Sorry bro, your inferences are incorrect. Both are definitely wrasses, not anthias. Scarlet wrasse - http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+1378+1152&pcatid=1152 this one confirm is hawaii fish. It looks quite the same as a mystery wrasse except the absence of the white markings, purple body and perhaps strips on its yellow head. Lyretail wrasse - http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+1379+346&pcatid=346 could be this one. pretty common. -
Wow! Nice tanks bro! When are you reaping in your harvest! Hoho ) Don't forget me k! I'll come with my army-issued swiss army knife! Lol )
-
Count me in hor!! Hehe ) Wow, actually I think your tank is blossoming quite fast! I guess it's the power of your skimmer and CR. Keeping stability in parameters is the key to SPS success Well done lemon!

Planning a comeback, mr seow? Hehe

wah! what happened to elvis and priscillia?! they were some awesome lovely clowns oh yeah, you told me about that. hahaha, good to see your son's pet still around! hehe (: ic, well you can remove the hood for now and put a fan there? hahaha Anyway new house best is to put fish tank with fish inside or boil a kettle before entering. Good for feng shui! I bet your dad loves it!

cardinals generally will school better than chromis or anthias. However if you do not have a BIG fish like a fierce wrasse, a pbt, an AT etc inside the tank, cardinals will also not school. They will merely swim around the tank in small groups and act bossy with each other. but if you got a big fish like mentioned, they will stick closer together and hover around or near their home and you get a schooling fish! Anyway you can check our Irwana near their SPS pond. Nasri recently threw in a sizeable number of blue eyed cardinals into the tank with a PBT and they schooled! but like mentioned, stationed around their home (: For further information, please contact our fish gurus ie LemonLemon and Digiman. It was Lemon who told me about the big fish-schooling fish theory (:

true with the highlight, but bro, front line defence is still a water change (highlighted). Because our water volume is small but our livestock can be vast. Thereafter when you do water changes, you can help remove those bad bacteria and when you dose new good bacteria into the tank, the clearing of the bloom will be more efficient. Anyway I faced bacteria bloom before during my vodka regime. I overdosed my bacteria by a few drops (was using mb7) and a whitish film became visible on my tank glass for a week before I consulted Jack and Cedric who told me to do a water change to clear the bloom. that was how I knew what bacteria bloom was about. Pretty interesting, but definitely caused a lot of hair algae problem thereafter. The whole process caused me to tear down my tank then and restart it (: HTH and thanks for sharing the link bro. really helps alot in the understanding of this issue (:

Biodigest is bacteria source for Prodibio carbon dosing method by Prodibio like Zeobak is for Zeovit (: Yup, don't wait too long. Just go change water and all will be normal (: Good luck bro (:
-
sorry wor bro! bacteria bloom add more bacteria will just cause more bloom and perhaps will cause further issue. THE BEST METHOD is to change water! this one is recommended by some of the big gurus of SRC (needless to say names; you know who) just change water and you will be fine! DONT ADD BIODIGEST! :X

I think the Mg-1 is the pH indicator. it's supposed to cause a colour change in the reagent due to an increase/decrease of pH ie acidity or basicity of the test solution in the vial so that we can detect it visually. All pH indicator got a range between acidity and basicity. For example methyl orange is 3.1-4.4 which means if the pH in the solution is towards alkaline (pH of 4.4 and above), it will appear orange and if acidic, it will appear red (ph of 3.3 and below). I do not really know what pH indicator reagent is used in Salifert's Magnesium test kits but I can guess that the pH indicator reagent for Salifert Calcium test kit is phenolphthalein. (: Therefore by adding more or less, you affect the number of drops of Mg-3 needed to cause the colour change in the test vial as such affect your Mg reading. My usual take is follow the english instruction and do a few more tests and find an average. In case you have dripped more or less before, do not panick. Just switch to the english instruction next time you do a Mg test and all will be fine (: HTH

You just go RC and search. Plenty of threads on those 2 issue (: And salt wise, alot of people use Tropic Marin, Instant Ocean, Red Sea Coral Pro and D-D H20. Depends on how deep your pocket can go and buy accordingly. The guideline is once you have affixed a salt on your tank, don't change it (:

wow! thanks for sharing! Pavona, here's a link: http://animal-world.com/encyclo/reef/sm_stony/PavonaMaldivensis.php It's a SPS! GOD! I think I neeed to visit your tank soon! SO many ho liao! lol! yeah not many people have the kind of colours you are having!
-
hahaha YOU and YOUR TANK of course! I will never come close to the status of "imba"
-
where did you get the first sps and what are the 3rd and 4th sps called? hehe
-
this is imba! this is SO imba! this is OMG imba! hahahahahaha Nice one jack! Sorry ah, I try to arrange a time to pick up my frag! :x
-
hahaha yea i think vodka can work! but then again, the catch on it is the balance. If I am to choose between vodka, zeovit and prodibio, I think I will go with prodibio then zeovit then vodka (: Yep, so far the general idea is that brown sps will not come back so fast or that well. BUT if you really are patient and provide the best for your sps, I am sure it will return. I have a friend whose idea on brown/almost dead sps is "So long as it is not dead and the tissue is still there, whether got little polyp extension or not, the sps will always be able to come back alive" so far, I have seen him doing such miracles. lol

Yes bro decentkid, we are still using phosphate removal stuff like rowaphos. Cept that now in the market there are more than one method to remove phosphate. Instead of rowaphos, you have like NP biopellets, Prodibio and zeovit methods etc. Similarly we also have unconventional method like vodka and sugar dosing to remove phos and nitrates. In short, we lump them up and call them bacteria/carbon dosing phos removal methods (: However, after threading over to vodka and back, I still prefer using phosphate removal stuff like rowa except I am using the brand Aqualight. Equally good and less aggressive than bacteria/carbon dosing methods (: SPS still can turn out nice and pretty (:

Another great guru sharing his tips! I think this thread really worth the ups and recommendation for all reefers who want to venture into the dark side! Anyway, before I close, so long as your tank parameters etc are stable, no matter how bad the SPS is, you can still be able to revive it. The chances are much higher imo (: P.S: bro clee, you might want to give us some more pics and reviews on your skimz skimmer yeah! I am looking forward to it (:

I got a packet of CaCl and MgCl. both are 2.5kg each. Let me know if you are keen (:

what butterfly is it? is it reef safe? (:
