  1. Nano tanks - daily to weekly changes Big tanks - once a month Never scrimp on water changes. End of day I find it cheaper than spending on bottles since the result is direct and more significant than bottles.
  2. You want dainichi can come find me. I got half a bag of it can let you have it. Hope that helps
  3. nice! what you planning to feed them?
  4. Let me self introduce, my name is Marc and I am harsh in the face of right and wrong. When you make mistake, Im not the kind of guy who will mince my words just to make you feel better. To me, what for? What's the lesson learnt? Moreover if it is a mistake repeated several times? Will gao lat sorry stamina after the whole episode help? If that makes sense to you, sorry Im too dense to appreciate. So if you find my words condescending after apologies, wait till you meet a boss with knives. My feat here is nothing to that. Moving on, alike bro jxlex, I do earn myself some ranting rights at this thread because the last few days were not the first time I talked about his tank issues to him. In fact, I talked to him offline way before this thread and that thread is still sitting in General Reefkeeping. Much advice was conveyed to him online and offline then and his replies were "sorry here".. "ill do better there" etc etc but up till today, I do not see any progress from him. Best of all, he is fond of asking the same questions many times, each in different setting but similar idea which is why it is not surprising to me that bro. slimymadness will get pissed and exposed the whole saga. 我们不是常说人的忍耐是有限度的? About his "business" I have no qualms with anyone going to second hand market sell refurbished corals but the least decency is to set your tank right because in case you cannot sell your refurbished corals, you can still keep them. So if he cannot keep his tank well first, why is he going about buying corals and destroying life? Like bro . jxlex, I have a clear knowledge of his financial power so with all the wastage in money and life, it is not hard for me not to be angry with him. Tongue in cheek, acting big towards him is unnecessary. Im naturally big by weight. However acting big because I'm senior to him in this forum is a big mistake on your presumption because I care less what laurels you have but am interested if your laurels size up to your attitude instead. Attitude is a big thing to me. It defines you and who you are. He is only 17 and if his attitude is that loose by acting the way he did, I cannot imagine him during army. Sometimes I do miss the old SRC where the old birds dont give you face if you still do the same things wrong. Continue down with same route with persistence, they will give you more than a bus. (Anyway in case you are wondering where this bus comes from, its from America.) So in closing, it is the summation of certain fine details that boiled some brothers over in this episode. If he had listened, we should very much be joking in this thread and me buying his corals. SRC afterall, is a big family. Good night.
  5. Agreed. Respect is earned not given. So now you're here trying to ask us to forgive you? Your agenda in doing so? Respect you so you can sell more frags to us? Oh please.. >.> Anyway fyi, AQ pple are less tolerant than pple in this forum. You *expletive* up, I think they cant wait to see you get hit by a bus.
  6. Wtf. Thanks for the update bro. Didnt know he had been buying fishes and stocking up behind our backs when we spent so much time fiddling with our small keypads trying to guide him. Not to even mention he's buying zoa colonies from lfses and fragging them up just to sell us at those kind of prices so he can make some money from us.. Sad, it is just sad. End of day, I guess some people are beyond hopeless.
  7. Bsi you can get from madpetz. epoxy I'll use any epoxy putty I can find in hardware shop. cheap and equally efficient.
  8. im using the same. feels okay so far. my tank is 24"x16"x14"
  9. noooo dont turn it off. keep it running. Got skimmer is gd. try to pay attention to the skimmate colour. observe if your skimmer is pulling out gunk while you dose. but never never do carbon dosing without skimmer. v prone to crashes.
  10. I'll do it like 2 drops a day till I hit 8 in a week for mb7. Biofuel will be 1 drop a day for 4 days in a week. monitor the tank and hair algae growth. If too much hair algae, stop and change water or if you think you can handle it. Increase your dosage of mb7 and biofuel proportionally ie. 2 drop mb7 1 drop biofuel and so forth. if got cyano , change water and reduce biofuel dosage. Patience is the key here
  11. Then slowly ramp up wherever necessary. If all are good, 8 is my magic number.
  12. I'll halve that 16 and dose 8. More control and better judgement as a result.
  13. Nutrient, high nutrient. Bro braincoral summed it up well so did bro jxlex. You can try scrubbing your tank bur remember to collect the floating hair algae to prevent them from becoming excess nutrients. Don't be an ostrich. Head in sand pretending the everything is still okay
  14. no matter what it's a great skimmer. Some things like these are hard to come by. Worthy investment
  15. I hope you do because there's a lot of grounds to cover for your case.
  16. Solid? Sorry bro to advise that I will only believe a picture's truth if the truth in the picture is true. Simple words, I do not believe in blue lamps. To me, actinic blue plus only brings out colouration because of the bio luminesecence in the corals' algae and nothing more. It is therefore very easy to say my corals look great under blue lights but look draped under 10k bulbs. Then it will be what are you trying to prove? A classic tank or a classic fraud? (Let me throw you a bone. Go royal blue leds; your colours will be more superb than what you are getting now.) Like I said, paling off doesn't mean great. In fact, paling means trouble brewing. I see besides your poccis, montis are paling; both digitata and carpacornis. Carpacornis are basic montis. They should be the ones succeeding still in face of an adverse condition. If they aren't, something is really wrong somewhere. Current spses dont show it dont meant they don't mean it. Placement etc periodically holds back the inevitable stn/rtn but it is still inevitable. it will come like it or not if some core issues are not addressed. Brown spses are mostly due to lights and high nutrients. Go to some lfs and observe. You'll find brown sps there but thriving. Actually a bro here has a tank which saw its sps browning out but kudos to his system, its looking okay so far but he needs to upgrade those lights. Nevertheless it is your corals to decide. Cashing in on them as frag sales now or later is up to you entirely. But do spare a thought for them before you buy your new stuff. $30 can buy you a lot of NSW and salt mixes to provide a quality tank. Just my 2 cents.
  17. Hot water just kill the bacteria and tomorrow they come back in another corner. Deal with your nutrient issue. Get or change skimmer and change water. If I got cyano, I wont do any carbon dosing till they are gone.
  18. From skimmate pic, look like alot of greens. most probably algae goo from urchins or overdosing of carbon based food source. Dont think it's carbon dosing waste cause usually that's black or dark brown. Deal with your nutrient issue. I think your current colonies paled is not because of low nutrient but a case of unfavorable environment. Spses dont always rtn or stn. they can just pale leaving just polyps and then slowly die out. Corals are weird creatures because when you pass them from another tank to yours they grow. Does that mean your tank is top notch? Sadly no. It's just it sucking up whatever it can find before dying. Last grasp of struggle wtv you want to coin it. Basic time line of a healthy coral is 6 months if not 1 year. Growth is nothing after awhile. Sustainability is the understatment here. Also I compared your last and current pix and do see a number of changes. Sell or die off I leave you to dessiminate but you got issues to address. So recommend you do not try those bottles. Alot of bros are trying now because it's a hype but question is is it necessary? My thoughts are unless you're ulns that your spses pale so much but growing that you want to increase its colouration, theb its a call to try hydrocarbon materials. Or try this if you have achieved ulns.. Heavy feeding
  19. As much as your current spses are looking fine, I notice some inhabitants looking pale. Might be case of bleaching or ulns syndrome which the latter means you stripped the water too clean for sps to thrive. Colour elements might be gd but I cannot be sure it wont promote algae growth especially I see long strands of algae on both the overflow and your return pipe and I'm unsure of your N & P numbers. so Serve us a pic of your skimmate please. Thanks
  20. then may I recommend you go by per drop basis? 34L is not really a very big volume. If you go by the instructions given on the bottles, I think you'll get bacteria and cyano outbreak. Mb7 is potent stuff.
  21. I don't think it's good enough. Save up the money and buy a par38 or razor nano. Better still an AI. Don't go cut corners on important stuff. End up paying more money.
