Don't have the professional / amaturer / budget moniker when I got it from him. I'm not really qualify to judge is it a good design. I'm sure that basic design will work. Just that with you they are ways to improve it. One thing to note is the overflow quiet enough without using alot of wool etc. My definitly was'nt and I'm not willing to put a thick wad of wool that needs to be change inside the overflow box.

enjoyfish, Needle wheel skimmers are more plug and play in the sense that it comes with a matching pump. The pump is suppose to suck in air, chop it up into fine foam/bubbles (with the NW impeller) and feed it into the skimmer. Venturi driven skimmer uses a venturi valve. The flow of the water through the valve suck in air bubbles. You need to buy for own pump for venturi design. One thing to note is (one thing that I do not have and regreted it) is to have the skimmer in a compartment where water is just feed with raw water from the overflow and have a stable water level (i.e not int the last compartment of the sump). hope this is helpful to you

enjoyfish, Yeah mine is `design` and made by Jireh too. Its a 4x2x2. On the whole its not too bad I guess we all will learn. He recommended and sold me the Macro Venturi Skimmer too. I guess I'm too dumb to tune it to my liking thats why I decided to upgrade to a H&S. I use a SICCE Multi 2500 for the skimmer. Jireh wanted me to use a by pass from my return pump. I hated his piping design so I redo it (thats why I got the other pump for sale.) myself. BTW Jireh is always late so you may want to take that into account when you wait for him. Imagine I call his shop, his wife will say that he reached already and I end up waiting another 1.5 hr for him to deliver my lights.

hi, Selling some excess items. 1) Macro JS-350 in-sump skimmer (5.5" x 21") - $70 4 months old. Selling due to upgrading. Does not come with a pump. This is not a needlewheel model. Please note that there is no pump. Does not have a return outlet flexible pipe, Jireh keep insisting that this particular model does not have one. I use a 25mm tee and piping to reducing splashing. 2) Ehiem 1262 - $180 4 months old but used only < 1 week externally in Jan 05. I have changed the plug to the local 3 pin. Selling as it is an extra. Originally had planned to have two return pump, but system that Jireh designed could not handle the return of two pumps without diverting almost all the flow of one pump out to the sump. Self collect in Seng Kang, Rivervale Cres. Please PM your interest.

In fact this tank is entered by henry. Just notice the name card on it just now. No wonder all the critters inside look sp familiar.

Will AA remain open to sell the shipment? -
I spray a bit of cyclopeez about 1 hour before I feed them over my colony. It helps them to open up more first. Even my drak green one open up like magic five minutes after I sprayed. I usually feed them with mysis.

So what is the problem? Can share?

Cupramine Treatment
bloodlamb replied to seamonkee's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Thats why we use 0.5mg for cupramine instead of 0.1-0.2 mg with CuSO4. But I guess for simplier invertabrates it will be more deadly. Esp free floating ich. Notice that there is no algae problem in the hospital tank? I myself have this problem and in fact is doing the same thing as seamonkee. I started on 15 Apr and lost 1 yellow tang so far. In my hospital tank I have 3 common clowns, 1 yellow tang, 1 purple tang and 1 royal gamma. I intend to treat them for 30 days. BTW cupramine is not that hard to find. But PetMart has the cheapest one around. I got mine at almost twice the price. -
problem with ben timer not off-ing my lights
bloodlamb replied to shoelevy's topic in Product Reviews
So far no problem. Had it for 3 months already. And its on the same ballasts (not 300W 2x150W). Anyway I opened out one of the timers and it appears that the brass/copper contacts sort of got welded together by the spark I guess. -
problem with ben timer not off-ing my lights
bloodlamb replied to shoelevy's topic in Product Reviews
hi, Had problem with that too. Short of using those industrial type contactor(?), I guess all we can do is try our luck. I tried 3 the ben on my 2x150W eballast. The contact always got stuck after 1 on/off cycle. At the end I found a electronic timer at Carrefour Plaza Sing that has a current rating of 16A. That works ok so far. Cost me about $36. -
hi, Its suppose to help the fish shed parasites on the skin and gills (esp if you use more powerful chemcials for the dip) see Dip and Bath. How ever I do not dare to do this for invertabrates. For fishes so far ok. Any I dip before fish going into QT and after QT before going into display tank. I never let LFS water get into my system.

hi, I never acclimatise my fishes except to float the bag to equalise the temperature. I follow the advice a book (see www.wetwebmedia.com) and gives all my fishes a fresh water (pH corrected to the same as tank water) dip with methyl-blue for 5-8 mins and after that the fishes go straight into the tank. Have done this to clown fish, yellow tang, purple tang, royal gramma, box fish.

Drastic Measure That I will Take
bloodlamb replied to seamonkee's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
hi, Just thought that maybe I can suggest you use plastic bio balls instead of coral chips. The coral chips might absorb some of the copper. If you don't use test kit hard to get the concentration right. -
hi, My stuipd tank maker keep insisting that my skimmer model does not have a outlet flexible tube. He made me a PVC elbow with a tube when I complain of the salt spray. Anyone know where can I buy a suitable hose for it? Those for washing machine do not fit well. The outlet is about 30mm external diameter. My skimmer model is Macro Venturi Series. He told that the model is ASF 300. From the website it looks like the JS200P (from measurements and picture). Thanks.
