Hi Reefers, There has recently been a influx of LEDs as a alternative lighting source for reef setups. So am curious to know whether if there are any reefers out there who have achieve success using LEDs as a predominant lighting source. esp SPS dominated setups. Hope to gather some information as i'm keen to change my convert my current MH to LEDs.

I'm actually considering this unit for my current setup too. Lighting for my current setup is a 250 w MH coupled with 4 x 39 watts T5s. Intention is to replace the 250 w with 4 of these units. keeping the T5s as additional lighting source. Only issue is there is not much documented success of SPS with leds. And the other issue would be the leds' ability to actually substitute the MH despite the promising data provided.

Gary, My experience with volka is pretty limited. Previous successes with SPS have always been mainstream application. I did however apply volka to my current setup for a short period of 2 months. And it did managed to keep my phosphate and nitrate levels in check during the trial period. Also experienced the "burned-tip" syndrome that's often associated with elevated alk levels.

The issue with NBBS is that they are a little on the larger side. You can maybe try out the SF brineshrimp which are said to be slightly smaller. I used them on a previous batch of reidi fries and did have some success. The best would be live feed within the 300-350 micron size.

You can try Ah Beng. They do appear once in a while. And did remember seeing captive bred ones from the last LCK ORA shipment.

Refering to good and bad bacteria, was wondering whether the introduction of Probiotics might tip the balance in favour of the good versus the bad bacteria issue ?

Hi HellBliss, What's the proportion of each item utilised in regards to vsv that you are using? VSV = Volka / Sugar / Vinegar Hi Gouldian, Any Infor on Microbe-Lift Special Blend? I would assume it to be a combo of different strains of bacteria? Thanks
