  1. Thank goodness I found you...... Need some cash....... you wanna help??????
  2. Whatever happened to the blue FLS you use to supplment your Ushios??? Ain't good enough????
  3. I have the same problem in maintaining my alk and calcium levels..... My current DIYed Reactor can't keep up with my reef's calcium intake and that's why I dose Kalk extensively..... mixed with vinegar.... You should see the amount of vinegar i pump in per dosing.... sometimes nearly half bottle full.....!!! My current alk status is 10-11 dKH and Calcium levels register 400 - 420 ppm... pH registers at 8.3 during photo period.... My acros do show pretty good growth but now that I have downgraded my MHs to 250Ws, might need some time to see how they fare with their new growth rates... BTW, if you notice in the first picture that the centre aread of my reef looks pretty dark and that is due to the absence of a centre bulb.... Still considering the addition of either a 250 or 400 W bulb Ushio 10kk.... Durian, do post up some pics of your reef for us to see......
  4. Its gonna take some time for these frags to grow into the kind of reef that I'm looking for......
  5. Coming soon..... Once I get my hands on that specimen of yours.... I should have a frag.......
  6. There are still some clams and acros......... Thinking of going down later..... around 2 pm......
  7. Wow!!!!.... What a huge Specimen!!!!..... Hmmmm..... Definitely fraggable......
  8. Hi Guys, Jus wondering how many of reefers out there bought the "stuff" from ML..... Like to see some pictures......
  9. Guys.... Its Big Boss' ........... BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Achilles Tang !!!!!!!! And are we invited to a frag party at your place????
  10. You can try out the Iwasaki 20kk bulb.... bluish white tinge....
  11. $400???? wow, that's expensive.... My ballast coupled with capacitor, ignitor and bulb holder only cost me around $80.... you must be referring to electromagnetic ballast.... IMO, 3 NO actinics would not be enough.... cos you will need lots..... and your wattage would increase requiring that much actinics...
  12. Or the founder of this forum having a bed in his reef next to his precious purple tipped acros.....????
  13. Another difference is mine have a Schedule 80 Gate Valve instead of the ball valve seem above....
  14. This is AT's definitation of CFD......... COMPULSIVE FRAGGING DISORDER............ Think I'm sick.... must see Doc SPade..........need medication.......
  15. Oops... spend all my money on my reef... too poor to own a camera..... wahahahaha...... Well, looks something like Spades.... with a different collection cup and other details... Can always have a look at the item at my place if you are keen.... items 28 inches high with a 20 inch reaction chamber.....
  16. Hmmmm..... They don't call me the Reefer with CFD for no reason.... The chisel and hammer are my favorite tools.... not also to mention the shears, screwdrivers.... heh heh heh.....
  17. Reefers, If I can't come up with a solution as to how I could plumb up my skimmer to my reef, would most probably sell it off..... Will be releasing the Skimmer at $200.... with Beckett (will sell off at $180 w/o Beckett nozzle) and a Schedule 80 1.25 inch Gate Valve... All parts made of PVC.... has to be used in sump as I did not glue up the main body, reason is so that the skimmer can be modified for future usage esp if there is a reef upgrade... Like I say, the only reason to sell it off is becos I could not fit it in my skimmer compartment... a miscalculation .......
  18. In fact, I'm thinking of selling off my DIYed Beckett Skimmer and using 3 of these smaller Macro Skimmers.... Reason, My Beckett is a little too large for my sump..... Well, to answer the above question, think if you adjust the skimmer properly, you should be able to get some good skimming....... But so far from what I heard, the Beckett seems like the only Skimmer that can really overskim reefs..... heheh....
  19. Keeping SPS with softies is rather risky IMO... as the chemicals secreted by softies either kill or slow the growth process of SPS..... SO, if you are keen on SPS, recommend that you remove the softies or keep them minimal in your reef...... Hmmmm, you have a 400W hamilton??? hows the colour like? and you are using the Hailea 6500?? think its flowrate is a little short..... Another thing, how's your nitrate level.... you don't seem to have any for denitrating.... and your skimmer might be a little insufficient.... Sorry for the list of negative comments.......
  20. I log out as Phang and demoted to Plankton as Joe..... then I log out again..... (stupidity) and now demoted another time to plankton as Joe_p.... HUrh.......please re-pm me again those messages .... cos I have most probably missed out quite alot of PMs during my last few days adsence as Phang and I think Joe......... Sorry guys....... Feel like fish food now........
  21. Hi all SPS Reefers... I have currently some frags and colonies that I wish to sell off to make room and also to cover the cost of running my reef.... (jus received my bill ..... )........ These are the buyers that I'm looking forward to selling the frags... 1) have the system able to sustain SPS... (esp those who have posted their systems here) 2) intending to keep SPS but do not wanna risk paying large sums till they are sure.... 3) Jus wanna try out if SPS can be kept in their reefs... 4) ** wanna have a full fledge SPS reef, In other words.... a "SPS lunatic", but nothing to start with..... Looking forward to those guys that have posted in this thread.... BTW, many of these colonies have came in to me badly damaged and RTN..... they have somewhat recovered and shown excellent polyp expansion and growth.... places with flesh receding have been covered by encrustinf growth and now looks pretty good.... Even colours have improved ... many were brown but now have a greenish tinge and some green... SO... those interested... please PM me for details.....
  22. SOmeone recommended a brand called MagicBox.... Anyone here tried this brand???? Hmmmm.... very strange that no one uses epoxy in this forum......
  23. well........... if you can bring in really solid good coloured SPS and clams...... I might consider....
  24. Bringing in Livestock is not a problem if they are not CITES classified... Heard from somewhere that there is a allowance of certain amount to be brought in for personal hobby usage..... must confirm with AVA..... Anyone with experience with this???
