I use grade 15 coral chips.... not the best option but it definitely works.... I would be looking for ARM too if I ever get to the point of employing a 2nd chamber for my Cal Reactor....

I not so sure about that... maybe someone else would like to comment... The link attached had the author mixing 30 ml to half teaspoon kalk... this ratio is definitely off the 1:4 kalk/vinegar mixture.... Refer to this link: http://www.reefscapes.net/articles/breefca...kalkwasser.html I think the impt point here is to ensure that your system can handle it.... Cos for my system with those amount of Calcium Carbonates, would definitely require a substantial amount of Calcium and Alk input.... BTW, I do run a Calcium Reactor with a high CO bubble count...... Have not seen my pH drop much ........ My dKH registers at min 10...... I do dose Reef Buildr once in a while to bring it up to 12..... which is the range that I would like to keep it....

Hmmm.... dun think so.... the vinegar is suppose to dissolve the Kalk and should not affect the 1:1 ratio at all..... Did not measure the pH level of the solution... My dkH do drop once in awhile but mainly due to my calcium carbonates intake rather then the Kalk addition... I notice that my dKH only drops when I dun dose kalk.....

I jus add vinegar till my Kalk dissolves totally .... use 1 full spoonful with half bottle of vinegar...... and yes, you guys will think I'm crazy...... well,....AT, Tanzy and Morgan did.... you should take a look at their faces when I told them my dosing regiment.... and I jus dump them inot a high flow area of my sump.... so far so good... pH remains the same.... of course, do take into consideration the reef size.....

Yeah.... $50 per clam is definitely a good buy..... These clams look great in my reef.... Got 2 too..... Hurry before the choice colours get taken up....

When did you ever become a Durian???? DIYed spider reflectors...... I'm with 2 x 250W BLV SE for both ends with a Saki 6500 for centre bulb.... thinking of changing the centre bulb to a BLV too.....

You will need to look for a Pistol Shrimp.... Those that drive you nuts in the middle of the nite with their constant snapping sounds....... What you are looking for would be the symbiotic relationship between a Pistol and a Goby shrimp...

Hi Reefers out there... Due to my recent acquisition of SPS..... Gonna do some massive fragging of some of my older colonies to make room for the new SPS to growout properly..... Have also some very small colonies (some browns and some coloured other than brown) that I'm intending to let off....... All frags (large sized one of 2.5 inches and above will cost $12)..... $10 per frag when more than 3 frags are taken.... Colonies..... will be prized from $35 onwards... All frags and colonies for sale are tank raised............ So guys, Pls PM me for details...... To all reefers interested in the frags..... I have no intention to sell frags or colonies when your reef ain't ready for SPS...... Not trying to be funny or difficult ...... jus dun think it's a good idea to dump precious finances into drains when you are not ready.....

Hi Guys, My current Lamps are around 14 inches from water surface.... Thinkin of lowering them to 6 inchese from surface to drive in more intensity considering that I'm running 3 x 250 watters for a 5 footer.... Hope this gives me more intense colouration for my acros.... Anyone like to give some comments ???

Gatecrasher.... I'm not refering to you with my previous post on this thread.... no offense and ain't no intention to scare you off.... But really, thats the best answer to that question of yours..... mushrooms are considered one of the least demanding of corals to sustain..... even to the point of being a pest in conditions are ideal for them to reproduce...... If you are really keen into shrooms, then Woonming would be the reefer to look for for some decent advice.... He has a number of pretty good looking specimens that he currently propogating.... and of course his recent addition of Ricodeas.... Cheers..... welcome to the world of reefing......

Think you might be interested in doing a readup on the fragging of Elegence... might help... from my understanding of what was read eons ago.... Make a cut at the base of the skeleton up to jus millimetres from the flesh... Leave the flesh intact and slowly place both fragged parts slightlyapart, increasing the distance every few days till the flesh seperates on it own........ This is what they do to frag elegence and bubbles........

Pospeh is right.... Corals do experience stress during shipment ... so RTN issues are part and parcel ..... PR's equipment rank tops in my opinion... I have been to a number of LFS and have seen their setups/holding facilities for SPS.... have not seen any system that matches or even come close to what PR has offered for the holding of SPS yet.......
