  1. Very Cheap!!!!!! ...... compared to what the Founder of this forum spent..... Frankly, did not do a serious calculation of the setup cost cos I really dun wanna know......
  2. This is interesting.... Extracts from the above link....
  3. Are your bulbs DE or SE.....? If they are SE, dun think the BLVs/Ushios come in that form..... Wanting higher PAR, go 250 Ws....... You have the option of SE and DE in that range
  4. I thought its suppose to be drink skim mate, visit LFS every other day and be a member of sgreef......
  5. Looking good..... turing green though.....
  6. Exactly what's on my mind...... .... if I ever get there..... not given my reef water change for quite a while....
  7. I have not encounter serious issues yet with my current dosing regiment.... but will take heed of the information posted.... Hmmm... Current SPS does show tremendous growth rates since the dosing started and my Cal and Alk levels seems fine.... hmmmm, maybe the readings I'm getting are already screwed!!!!... Will keep you guys posted if anything happens......
  8. You guys are so furnie...... Berry , The green thing in the first picture (left hand corner) is a very very stupid idea.... The thing on the right hand side of my latest pic is a Tunze Stream model 6080... One of the best acquisition for SPS Reefers...... churns out total of 8000 l per hr with a mere 17 watts...... Something every SPS reefer should consider getting...... Most hardcore SPS reefers here have them in their reef.....
  9. To answer your questions... 1) $5 - 8k should be a good starting point.... but frankly the more the merrier.... You would not want to know how much I have already spent...... 2) Its a project that I'm fooling around with..... 3) My reef is about 1.5 years old......
  10. Heres the update.... with SPS.....
  11. Thanks Bawater, I would assume then that if enough water circulation and surface agitation is available, then the mentioned depletion of O2 would not occur?? So in that case, excessive doage of Kalk/Vinegar should not be a major issue...?? Another question pertaining to Robe's previous posting about the presence of "high non usable Calcium Acetate giving reefers a false impression of high calcium levels" can be fixed with a larger quantity of bacteria able to breakdown the Acetate into its components...?? BTW, what kind of bacteria are we referring to here?? Wouldn't the increase in the Calcium Acetate also create a bloom in the bacteria population hence also the ability to process much more Calcium Acetates ??
  12. Hmmmmm..... interesting... After reading your post, dun really understand what you trying to say...... Flood from where ?? main tank or sump?? I think I need more sleep .....
  13. Nah, that won;t happen.... if you look at the overflow tower properly, you will see 2 planes of glass siliconed inside the tower...
  14. Golden Tooth, Your overflow tower seems like there are slots made at the bottom ....? I would assume from the structure made that you intend to have a bare bottom reef? Unless the water is flowing into the sump through the drilled hole at the top of the tower.....
  15. Clowntrigger, That piece looks alittle small...... you fragged it?
  16. Question is how do you get this Calcium acetate to breakdown to be usable by hard corals...??? Anyway, any document to back up your claims.....?
  17. Well, Bawater, if you understand the difficulty I have trying to maintain my Calcium levels there, you would understand the way I dose Kalk... I have tried the 30 ml to 1/2 teaspoon ratio and discover that the final result is a pretty clear form so figure out that for the amount of Kalk that I'm using... that if I add in vinegar by 20 ml per addition till the final result is a clear mixture, I should be on the right track...... Currently using the ReefeZ Kalkwasser ..... so far so good.... Frankly, my large dosage of Kalk / vinegar is something that I can't do without cos my Calcium Reactor can't keep up with my Calcium carbonates depleting my calcium .... Robe, you will have to elaborate on your post......
  18. My reef looks so different now..... Hmmmm .... like my previous aquascaping though.... now reef looks a little heavy...
  19. Because they have very deep pockets....... very deep indeed...
  20. Yes..... Blackcaps.... Must have one........ Exotic ones will have exotic prices.........
  21. That depends on what you have in your reef.... IMO, If you are going for a ful fledge SPS reef in the near future, investing in a Cal Reactor is a must.....
  22. Interesting.... waondering how much it would cost to bring in a 660??
  23. I need some help here.... Ice caps at that wattage is gonna overdrive the T5s!!! Cos aint the highest wattge T5 bulb only 80Ws ???
  24. What kind of wattage does the Icecap ballast comes in???
  25. Marinebetta, You intend to overdrive your bulbs???? Day, how much does the Osram ballast cost???
