This is crazy, Purple Queens seems to be on my hunting list now .... ever since I heard that theie chance of survival increases if zooplankton could be obtained for a regular food source.... Think 10 pieces of thopse would be good for my current reef......

SKimmer is venturi in nature... needs a pump... I think one Macro... the other taiwan brand.... none of the lights are blue.... most in 6500k region and I think only one in 10kk... all used .... for a few months....

As mentioned above... Anyone has any idea?? and pictures would be good...

I'm especially careful when it come to difficult to sustain specimens..... esp the AT.... Think I will wait for a good specimen... looking towards either ML or CF for it....

Hi Guys, Been having my reef for a while..... currently a SPS reef with 1 x Powder Blue 2 x Fairy Wrasse 1 x mimic Tang 7 x green chromis 1 x 6 line wrasse 1 x longfin 1 x sailfin blenny am thinking of adding some more stocks in..... Jus wondering if there are any good recommendations...?? Was thinking od some anthias and a Achilles Tang. Any recommendations?

I think you can ask Morgan about the 250W Radium..... He used that to supplement his greater than 1000W light source... I'm interested too.... heh heh after seeing RC's TOTM for the current month.... Reefer was with 10kks and switched to Radiums.....

Ming, you forgot to mention the current batch of powder blues ....... They look excellent and are sized from 3 inches onwards..... and yes, the peppermint shrimps and arrow crabs..... it's the first time that I have seen them "live" locally...... and yes, emerald crabs are available too.......

All these mini sized SPS reef is driving me nuts, especially after seeing them "live".... Now I'm so tempted to start one of my own....... Kevin, suggest you start a thread on your mini reef too...... show some pics and get every one drooling too.....

Well, I had one that decided to do a nuke out on my reef...... Was fortunate that I discovered it with its entrails which is disgusting pinkish red in colour ..... did not wait too long to see its effects on my reef..... Phew...... Imagine a cuke nuke on my SPS reef...... Learnt my lesson.... no more cukes for me......

The ability to sustain SPS ain't a easy task and that's why it is listed under the Advanced Reefers section.... These corals do experience some DOA and would be in poor conditions due to stress from shipping and handling and therefore result in DOA and poor conditions ..... most LFS who ship in large quantities know this.... It is therefore inappropriate then to state that a LFS is unable to handle such stock due to a few unhealthy specimens .... especially when the majority of its stock are found to be satisfactory and doing fine..... DOA and unhealthy specimens from shipping is a common issue not only with SPS..... Refer to the above again....

This post is really twisted... Price of clams are not reduced because they are of poorer health or perishing... I bought my clams at that price... in fact, I got 2 and that are still doing fine .... and another issue that you should take note before shooting is most suppliers will only consider shipping when a certain amount is met....

Shark, The stock died during transit, nothing to do with PR ...... I have full confidence in PR's ability to sustain Livestock..... and I know what I'm talking about... Reefer guy, It is well known that SPS do turn brown when they are placed into a new environment...... they will need time to aclimitise to the new lightings before they would colour up... and this might take months... it happens in my reef and others.... Think you should read more and get your facts correct before you start shooting....... I have been to quite a number of LFS, and there is very few setups that matches up to what PR has.... most other LFS I frequent previously can't even keep their SPS stock alive for more than 2 weeks........ (well, that was months ago, things might have been better now....) I have bought clams from PR too, strange, they seem to do well...., did you check your water conditions ??????

Thanks for the comprehensive analytical analysis on electrical wattage and amperes....... You guys sure know how to complicate issues...... But the reason I'm asking this question is simply cos of the amount of amperes that MH bulbs would drawn, esp during the bulb striking period.... and whwn you have quite a number of bulbs..... and because I was told that standard wires only runs max 13A and there are 15A wires available .......... so does 3 x 250W of MH require the higher rating wires...????
