For water parameters, the mentioned works for me. Mg at 1300. (1200 – 1500 ppm is good.) Ca readings at 400-480 ppm and kH at 8-10 is recommended. Take note of phosphate levels. Keep it below 0.03 as high phosphate levels will inhibit SPSes ability to perform calcification. Do take note that if you are intending to move into ULNS (ultra low nutrient system) either through Zeovit or volka additives, keep your kH at 7- 8. Higher kH levels for ULNS will cause SPS to exhibit the “burnt tips” syndrome. Reasons for this is still a mystery.

Yeap, that looks pretty close in colouration to the sunset monti.

Looks like a montipora danae to me. If I'm not mistaken, it is nicked as "pokerstar monti". Encrusting in nature so give it space. And nice catch you have there.

Yes. been "seeing" quite a number of exotic- coloured stuff being formed from this method. SPS, zoas etc.

Wilson, does the "polyps" retract revealing a carbonate skeleton like those found in favites corals? If they do, you are most probably holding unto a specimen in the "lepestra" genus. Extremely uncommon corals normally found as hitch hikers. I got one that's orangey with brown tentacles. Do a search on RC on "lepestra". you'll be amazed on the variety of colours they come in.

Bro, you can try using larger sized coral chips. alternatively smash up a LR and the small bits should be pretty good frag plugs.
