i recently add an external thermostat to my resun chiller, kick in for an hr to lower 1.5 degree off for over 2 hrs with 2 no of 150 w mh, 1262, 1060, seio and rio pump on. and its not affected by chiller pump flowrate. my tank is 4 x 1.5 x 2. with lights off can tahan over 3 and the half hour. my friend with the same setup but bigger tank at 4 x 2 x2 claim his off for over 5 hours . before that is on 5 and off for 15 min big headache.

hi loster i think like wise also. just concern about the non-existing surge issue. actually for other chiller , the probe is also inside the chiller compartment, just that the controller not so sensitive or the water volume inside alot , my guess

so is to say on/off method or not on/off method , surge will still occur when the compressor kick in. just that on/off will let the chiller stay on for longer and off for longer thus less surge due to less kick in/out as compare to normal operation of cl650. i read somewhere running amp is 2 plus and starting amp is 3 plus. so on/off method is better right? any comment ?

hi, i am also thinking of using the same on/off method for my cl650 but the thing is when power is on again for the next time, only 230v to the thermostat controller i assume drawing very low amp , the compressor will not be on for say another 1 min. so is there still any surge? correct me if i'm wrong, still learning.
