  1. I agree with blue heaven... I did my read up on the marine hobby for well over 4years... (No money to set up one mah... Parents insist i dig my own pocket for my own hobby...)

After awhile u will, more or less, know what u r doing and roughly whats to do should do if any minor problem arises.

Anyway... WELCOME to the world of the marine hobby!!!

  2. Guys i'm looking for good reflectors for my MH casing.

Need to replace the old one as its been worn and no longer shiny.

Anyone has clues on where to get them?

  3. Hey Guys thx alot for the reviews!

Lets shift our topic to power consumption now.

Which model/brand is the most cost effective in terms of relative tank size, heat producing equiptments (eg. lights pumps... u name it.) Cheers bros/sis.

  4. The least stressful thing u can do to yur fishes now is to wait it out.

Provide good food, Good clean environment and water parameters. Should go away after 1-2weeks.

If not can always try the fresh water dip. :P

Do a search in the forum, its been discussed tons. :D

  5. Thx every for sharing yur pointers.

Would loved to get a teco or pacific coo but then again... same old financial liquidity problem.... <_<

For my 3X2X2, i'm actually considering a CL450. My idea is that if it has a bigger horse power (meant for a bigger tank...) then it'll take less time to cool my tank (which is smaller) to the correct temperature. Dont know if my stand on this is correct.

-Shorter running time = Cooler living room and lower bills...($10 increase a month. Man my dad would loved to hear this... :erm: )

Getting a CL 450 will also allow (HEaven bless) for future upgrade. Maybe to 2xMH or more T5s...

    hotlemond,

    Thx for the link!

How come yur chiller run so long without a MH??

Could there so something wrong with yur config? Dont scare me leh... parents gonna jump on my back if that happen...

  6. Ok.

    Am thinking of MH 150w X 1 And 4 54w T5s

Height would be roughly 1.5m from sump to tank.

Elbows from chiller to tank will prob be not more then 3.

Other pumps would prob include my return, to my skimmer and to my FR...

Correct me if i'm wrong, isnt it better to provide slower then higher recommended flow rate?:nc:

  7. Want to try here....keeping some clams (at 50g additional tank) and connected to main tank. refug/sump.

Heard some reefer from overseas if clams as NO3 eater.....any suggestion ?

    :thanks:

Clams will only help to reduce no3 if u have a big number of them, Dont think 2 or three would help much lah....

I encounter this same problem during the initial few weeks after cycling and introduction of ls. NO3 was way high... off the chart literally...

    This is What i did,

    - Remove LR and rinse in salt water wash off any trapped debris.

    - Dont feed fish till NO3 Stablized...

    - Remove any other visible dirt in the tank.

    - Take out all my filter medium and rinse in salt water.

    - Change water using the dilution method, Change 50% then after a few hours another 50% then again another 50% or 40%. (Make sure salinity and PH is the same hor.) WHY? Think of the NO3 as rose syrup dissolve in water, dilute dilute dilute... ;) This is the extreme la. I did it for about 2 days... corals and fishes are fine... to do this method, its better to buy Seawater la, No need to mix like siao... cheaper compared to salt mixes also. and more or less the sg and PH will be more or less stable if u get them from the same supplier..

Anyway as i said, thats the extreme. Works well for me though. Can give it a try but dont flame me if (TOUCH WOOD!) things go wrong. :P
