SOunds good! Been trying ways to decrease my NO3 haha! Now my tanks looks almost like the 'underwater garden of eden' with all the marco greens... Good for my tank... and my YT... free flow salad... But wonder how much is it? loved to get a green one though. About 3" across? haha hopefully not too expensive.

Thinking of getting one... But scared it die one me leh.... Will it add alot to the bioload?
-
I didnt use a chiller at all... But i have a cooling fan. Temp maintain at ard 27 degrees... more or less constant. My jewel coral is still looking pretty good.
-
BTW, IF i were to change to a sump... I still need to find someways to cycle it too yeah? Wonder if adding the filter medium from my canister will help to speed things up...
-
HAHA! I think my display tank almost got no space for my YT and powder brown. Maybe if i get a sump i will move my blue damsel there.... HAHA! Keep chasing my other fishes...

Hey guys/gals, Thinking of swithing my filtration system from a canister (present) to a sump. In terms of maintaining water quality which i believed that the sump may be able to do better. WIll there be any complications i will come across? Btw i am having a 2ft X 1ft X1ft tank.

different ways to introduce fish/shrimps
Travy replied to pinocchio's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Woah... the drip method alot of work leh. For me i juz stick to the normal process of: - opening the bag and floating it in the tank, clipping the mouth to the side. - after 10 mins, add abit of water from the tank in. - after awhile add abit more... - then slowly increase amount of tank water added and freq till almost double in volume. (Guess its almost the same as terryandsimon la... But i prefer to keep a close watch on the inroduced stock to check for anthing amiss. - after about 30mins then take the bag to the sink with a container juz big enuff for the 'stock in question', empty most of the water down the sink hole, the stock and juz enuff water in the container and pour it into the tank. PHEW! Dont like the idea of adding the water from the shop... no matter how clean it looked. -
Coral Identification - Mushroom or Anemone or ???
Travy replied to Marineman's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I believe its whats called a sand anemone. I think i've read up on it b4. But then again i might be wrong. -
Man.. i have to say i am guilty of the 'canister filter' sin... kinda regret it liao, thats why spent alot of money on a good Protein Skimmer. Flora Tubes are okay i think. Its working for me, The important thing is the intensity and the correct spectrum. For my 2 ft i have 3 day light and 1 blue tube. The lighting and teh skimmer set me back by almost 300 bucks man... But facing a NO3 problem now. SOurcing for remedies... Think i', gonna spend quite alot on it again...

Nitrate Reading as of 12 sep 2pm: 12.5mg/L (but its slightly lighter in colour in relation to the color wheel. So i am guess to be ard 5-12 lah.) Test kit: Tetra test NO3 Always accurate

Erm... pardon my knowledge... beckett? Whats that? Any cheap and effective method? Kinda taxing on my pocket, gym membership, protein and creatine sup, driving, and now the tank... Ouch... haha Thinkin of the AZ no3... read the site. Hmm... anyone tried?
-
Hey Guys i am seriously considering about getting it. But need some help, can u tell me where to get it and roughly the price for it? Pm is good, dont wanna violate anything yeah? haha
-
Powerful skimmer? What do u mean? In relation to the volume of my tank? The type of skimmer? Or the max. capacity output per hour? Man... this NO3 problem is really giving me a big headache. Anyone has excess trimmings of caulerpa sp. to get rid of?
-
WOW!!!!! Very Nice tank!!!! Hope one day i can have something like that! How much roughly did ya spent on all the stuff? excluding the LS? WHat equiptment do ya hav?
-
Ohh... Have that. ... erm... i think i'm gonna change it to 'had' that... My yellow tangs grown kinda fond of it... decimated the bunch to half its original size... Spent abt 5 bucks on it man... anywhere i can get it cheap? many i can out supply my tang till my aglae tank become establish.

Lookin for an algae covered rock. The thicker the better, For my tang.
-
AZ no3? Can u tell me more? Quite new to this hobby so not very sure whats that. How does it work? Contucted a test juz now, God... shooting up again. Had reduce feeding to once a day. (God bless my hungry fishes, YOUR DAYS OF STRAVATION BE OVER SOON!!) Stopped stocking liao, Kinda waiting for everything to go back to normal. NO3 is there but my corals are still opening. Hope its a good sign that things are good. BTW 'caluerpa racemosa' what does it look like? Not very well verse in macro.. haha perhaps a picture? Or is it the one with blades like a feather? But hope my Tang wont eat it... (If it isnt my fav one... god i would have... ) I guess i was ok with the init starting up, slowly as i add stocks over a few weeks i conducted checks every few days. Some how i feel something is amiss... Where is all the NO3 comin from? But on the flip side, i can be pretty sure the 'little guys' in the filter and substrate is working.

Have a blue damsel to swop with what ever to be offered. Haha~! Trying to get rid of it and at teh same time find it a nice home.
-

Hey thanks for all the tips!!! But i Guess RO and DY might be abit out of my range for now... Been having it for 2mnths plus, a couple of day ago NO3 juz shot up like crazy over a few days. Couldnt find out whats worng. Been changing water everyday for the past 4 days and now its back to normal. Was looking at additives that i can put into my filter to remove nirtate, i wonder if they work... Well yeah i hav live rocks, bought a decorative marco algae (the one that looks like bunches of small grapes) Was doing well till my yellow tang decide to have it for dinner.... Using a venturi driven protein skimmer with max cap. at 600L. Guess thats pretty good for a 2ft tank. needs to top up trace twice aweek man..
