  1. NICE!!! wanted to get one that time but cant find.... Me no tank pic leh... can? But will my purple dottyback like him...?
  2. MAN didnt know they are this resilient! Bought a packet of adult shrimps home to feed my fishes, Some how a few renagade ones ended up at the bath room sink in droplet of fresh water. Only notice them abt 5hrs later when i got home to bath, still very much alive and kicking! Apparently the osmosis of fresh water doesnt harm them as it would to other marine (or brackish water) life.
  3. Very nice and clean setup. The purple sea fan you have is very NICE!!!! Post more pics on the other view of yur tank leh.
  4. GReat Looking tank! Very Nice. Care to show some pics of yur sump and the equiptments you have?
  5. For Big angels, i heard from many hobbists that the korean and arabian is quite a good fish to keep... Hmmm wonder why only these two countries.. HAHA!
  6. Hmmm.... WHY NOT... Think of Nitrate like ribina syrup in a glass. HAHA! Dilute and drink, dilute and drink... till theres no more redness. But u have to ignore the possibility of finish drinking the whole glass to kill the problem str8 lah.
  7. I caught mine after stripping down the whole tank. Luckily mine's only a 2feeter. Abt 2" long, i must have been blind to have missed it! Anyway, casualties are 1 juv bi color angel, 1 six line wrasse, 1 cleaner shrimp, some renagade crabs that comes with the liverocks (can see shattered shells on the sand bed...) I juz cut him up and feed it to my remaining fishes and corals...
  8. Oh. How big is it? How much did u get it done for?
  9. The attachhed file my a design i thought of for my sump. Can anyone give me some pointers? My_sump.doc
  10. Water changes are standard mah.. I do it every week. About 20%, to keep NO3 below 10mg. Till me system gets more mature and more stable... what i've heard... 6mths rite?
  11. HAHA! At first That bugger stripped my 'grapes' covered rock within one week. Then went out and bought 2 more... Then the smoke thing happened. Now setting up an special aglae tank in along my corridor to grow algae for it to eat man... juz left over water from changing, some rocks, a cover and plenty of natural sunshine. hahaha!!! Maybe it didnt like the texture of the 'moss' one i bought. Good lah can suck up my nitrate. Excuse me ah, i dont know the names of my algae well..
  12. BLue with a yellow underbelly. PM me.
  13. YUCK! 1/2 a feet!? The biggest i caught is only about 5inches, and that freaks me out liao. Laernt a valuable lesson too... no matter how desperate u are NEVER try catching teh darn thing with yur hands!
  14. yeah.... Now i know to avoid the 'grapes'. I go for the other one that looks like Moss. haha! Looking good and my YT left it alone.
  15. Hey chefri, In that case i believed that u will need to let yur sandbed mature b4 adding any livestock. Live sand is usually ise when one wants to shorten the tanks' cycling period. From about 1mth to maybe 2 or 3 weeks.
  16. Nah... cant be... Coz the ammonia, NO2 and NO3 is as for normal. (For my tank lah) Juz a smoke screen, my fishes and corals are not really bothered by it. Though My star colony didnt open till it cleared up. And my YT seemed to be swimming happily in and out of it. Crazy fish... But it Crashed after a couple of days lah. Turned into green mush.
  17. True true... Man... better let u guys help me find out whats wrong. BUt the thickness of glass is fine, its juz a mentality... HAHAHA! You know glass being transparent and all... i know i know... probably u guys r slapping yur foreheads readin this. Now first thing first... wheres that digi cam...
  18. Yeah maybe i should... Tomorrow la... tired liao... In camp whole day, almost fell asleep during training. Went swimming and running juz now also... Now super shag... But anyway i am gonna convert my filter to sump. It'll have more pros then cons i believe. HAHA! Getting the 'tank' tomorrow, gona draw out the 'blueprint' and get the pieces cut. Think i'll run the canister and the sump co-currently to mature my sump b4 switching totally to it. But will still need yur help with the sump guys!!! Comments, Ideas and personal experiences?
  19. I thought it was deep enuff, when i set up my tank i still have more then 6kg left. If i put it in slowly will it work? Or do i have to strip down the whole thing? Or maybe all in at one shot? But keep having the thought that my tank will one day break from all the weight inside...
  20. My sand bed in my display tank is currently about 3" at the back and sloping to about 2" at the front. Contemplating the use of AZNO3, but EAN went out of stock... HAHA! talk abt being 'sway'. My main idea of having a sump is to increase the volume of circulating water in my tank. So giving me more 'heads-up' time should anything big comes along. But wanted to find a permanent solution to the NO3 problem as well. 2birds with a stone dudes!
  21. Maybe the LR compartment can be wider and shallower, so as the water will flow thru an almost level surface by arranging the rocks flat on a bed of live sand and not stacking them. SO at least the water movement will not be compromised. Rather then flowing in and ard the rocks to exit the chamber. What u guys think of it? Theory wise for now. Hmmm i wonder if that would work... Coz i believe if i were to hav a lamp for my refugium it will seriously heat up my water which i tried so hard to cool down. BUT then again, that will decrease the amount of sand surface area to come in contact with the water... ARgh!! Back to Square one i guess... Anyone to ponder with?
  22. HAHA! Sorry sorry... Too ganjiong to find outthe ansers lah... Paiseh..
  23. Ermm... hehehe... okok so i am wrong... Detail defination of phyto?
