Just like to share some of my past Lionfish keeping experience. I used to love Lionfish, I have kept 3 in total over a period of 2 years, all having the size of 1 inch when bought. Begining I feed them with Tetra bits and dried Krill and they have grown to about 3-4 inch. Then I start feeding them with LongKang fish, guess what happen, all 3 of them in separate occasion, died. After reading up, find that Lion Fish cannot consume alot of these fresh water fish, due to the fact listed out by Phang. So watch out for the Lion fish diet

please see the attached pictures of the Durso pipe that I have made. ZeRoCOOL, I do not know why yours are so noisy, but mine is like a gem, it is like no sound at all, Phang can justify it as he was at my place over the weekend. -
phang, maybe you could consider that pump that AT has for your DIY beckett skimmer.
-
At, what about small white like bettle clawing on the surface of the glass, what are those? I also see small worm climbing up the glass, any guess what are those? Me will try taking a pictures tonight.

Yep, got my from Sealife, well to enable for you to sleep soundly at night, just buy it from Sealife, unless someone else have a better idea. BTW I saw your Rock stacker, these are meant for the sump right? Are you going to create another one for the main tank?

Phang, I uses the black coloured one, I think it is the same, jut wash it and it should do the job. I have that in my current tank for like 8 years, should be ok.

Hi guys Over in the west, people always use RO water for top up or making new sea water, is that needed in Singapore tape water? If yes, what is the most economical way of doing it? I have heard petmart is selling the fresh water purifier equipment and also Sealife have their own units, so which one is a better choice? Please take into consideration that you need to change the resin for both equipment after some usage when making the selection, thanks. clowntrigger

That is right, the water chamnber will be at least 3/4 full, cos this is the height that they recomended. I have not fix it up yet as by filling the extra water column, my sump level will drop to very low. Thus I need to mix some more sea water before I will fix it there. I could however, simulate it over the weekend by just placing the Dorso pipe there for viewing. You need to be sure that the durso pipe fix tighty into the bulkhead as any blackout, you will have to image those extra 3/4 full in the chamber will flow down to your sump and if your sump is not able to take that extra amount of water, good luck I think plumber tape should be able to provide the tightness needed, just in case you need to remove it for servicing. -

the hole on top is to break the siphon effect, without the hole, you will see that the water level in the chamber will fall very quickly, once it is just below the opening of the pipe, you will hear a loud air grupping noise. If the hole is to big, there will also be noise as air is being rush into that big hole you have created. A good way to start is drill a small hole and then do trial and error, hope this help. -

I will do that over the weekend. In order to solve those noise, build a durso pipe, I have build one and it work perfectly. To get a hold of the pictures, try these URL http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/standpipe/s...dpipe_frame.htm trust me, this thing really work, it silence off all the noise of the water flow and the ###### air noise inside the chamber. -
How do you tune a H&S skimmer
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hon, H&S skimmer has a flywheel kind of propeller, similar to the turbofloater by redsea. As for Tunze, I am not sure, but over in aquarealm, it has high rating, so cheer up -

How do you tune a H&S skimmer
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
At, I don't quite get your answer for the following "Get a pump that controls the amount of water going in" I thought the Aquabee PH that comes with the H&S skimmer need no adjustment at all, in terms of water going into the skimmer? -

How do you tune a H&S skimmer
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
yep, my is fed with the powerhead inside the sump, that is to say, the power head is submerged in the water. Do I just just play with the water output only? To get the dry foam, should I increased the air or decreased the air? -
Hi Guys How do you best tune your H&S skimmer? I tune my skimmer on Sunday, getting the bubbles to form somewhere in between the neck, the air valve is fully open. Yesterday have a check and I see that the bubbles fall back into the main chamber. Immediately I see that the sump level has drop due to evaporation, so does that mean that the water level in the sump must be constant? Any tips of getting it to work? Clowntrigger

wow, thanks for the comments, can I just disconnect the PH, leave the UGF there without taking it out and then add the sand to become a DSB? You should know how much trouble to take out the UGF once it is being installed. Or it is a must for me to remove the UGF even though it is not working?
