  1. Hi AT and Morgan Can you help me to see if the attached pictures are those aiptasia that you guys are refering? Thanks.
  2. At Newton MRT, take bus 124(towards the newton circle, or on the hotel side), alight at the front of the hotel at Balastier. Cross the road and you are at Sealife.
  3. Bawater, sealife has 2 harlequin tuskfish if I don't remember wrongly, was there last Sunday, go and take a look.
  4. wedgee, pertaining to those fur like thing, is it brown in color? I have those on the back of my tank and I have throw in some snails and they do eat it. Read the previous post that I have posted. Get hold of those snail if what you are seeing is the same as mine. Of course, this is only short term solution, the long term you need to find the source. How old is your tank?
  5. Yep don't give up, I tried it on Monday, only my neon Damsel ate it when it was attached to the magnet. Guess what, yesterday, I throw a few small piece right into the tank, My pokerdot grouper and Red Band Wrasse snatches at it. After which, my Koran, blue tank and foxface join in as well, they are happily eating the nori now I think the way to go is not to feed them the whole day and then fool them that these are the normal food that you will throw in. Break it into small piece the first few time, once they are used to it, then you could throw in large chuck of it.
  6. bluebeard, can you estimate the very very long length that you see?
  7. Is the e-ballast for the 58 watts one connect to 2x55 watts or just one?
  8. haha, I wish they were, my wife is the one that search the picture and put it there. Can't deny it, they are one of the best looking fish around. Used to keep one that is 1.5cm in my current tank, but died after half a year go for those small one as they are cute.
  9. well you cannot have the best of both world right? want cheap and want fresh, where to find?
  10. I mean those special snail like fighting conhes, Astrea, Margarita snail, these are very well know in the west to fight against algae. If you were to tell the LFS you want the above, they will stare blank at you, my purpose of posting is to let our local community, espically those new to the hobby, that they can get normal snails that LFS bring in to get rid of algae easily without having obtain those "Westernised Snail" get it? Further more I have proven that they work for the snails that I have.
  11. The outlook of the snail features above. Sorry for the long post, but just like to share because everytime I went to a LFS and tell them a name of the snail that other forum recommend, they will say " What is That" Hope the above information is useful to you guys and these are readily local available.
  12. These snail that I bought from Sealife, eat the so call hair algae(the pictures above), I seen them nibble at the algae one by one.
  13. In the pictures below, these algae are growing at a rapid rate at all side of my tank glass
  14. Hi guys Just like you share with you on some snails(with pictures) that can take control of the algae that you have in your tank. You might have heard of it in some of the overseas forum, but for some reason, these snails are "Ang Moh" to us, which means some of them cannot be found locally. I have in my new tank 2 kinds of snail that really take care of those algae, just like to share with you folks. This small snail take cares of the diatom(light brown stuff) found on the top of the sand and also on the glass surface.
  15. Hi there Just like to share with you, you could go to the following URL and order the Flywheel that is found in H&S skimmer for the aquabee and Ehiem 1060 pump. With these flywheel, you are on your way to DIY a fake H&S http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/home.php Price Impeller for 1060 = 62.90 Euro incl VAT Impeller for Aquabee 2000/1 = 37.90 incl VAT
  16. happen to find the following site that sell the whole range of H&S skimmer in Germany, look like what we are getting in Singapore is NOT a reap off http://www.sewatec.de/default.php/cPath/33_35
  17. sorry derf, me no experts as in what is really being remove by the polyfilter, maybe you can look at the following URL http://www.poly-bio-marine.com/polyprod.htm
  18. I found that poly filter is really useful. I have put the polyfiler on the bottom of 2 cotton wool chamber on my old tank. You will see that the polyfilter turn brownish even though cotton wool layer above it is still quite clean, does that make you use it again?
  19. Derf, maybe you can make a comparison on the one you have with the NTUC offering, that will give us a better idea how come yours is of such a high premium.
  20. Sealife having a promotion, buy 2 get 1 free(Don't know still on or not), or you get the bigger piece, which work out to be I think $8+ a piece.
  21. In the sump after they pass through my first layer of cotton wool.
  22. I think it might be true like what AT say, it absorb metals, organics and phosphates, thus less organics for the skimmer to skip. But I think a skimmer is more effective as the organics are skim out of the water, whereas in polyfilter, it is still in the water. In polyfilter, it is difficult to judge whether the pad is End of life or not, get what I mean, so the best, have all the three, carbon, polyfilter and skimmer
  23. AT, thanks alot, that really help. My blue tang will have a new dish this weekend
  24. From my new setup, I notice that when I remove one of the poly filter(have 2 inside), my skimmer seem to foam much more. I do not know whether is this a concidence as I am waiting for my skimmer to break in during that time. But always, more is better than less in this case, treat it as a backup
