Bum, care to share the websites that you have mentioned? Sometimes as you know when you are at LFS, you saw a great specimen, usually you won't say go home and check for reference and then come back later and buy it, most probably when you leave the shop, the corals would be taken by the person that was behind you then I agree that there are lots of specimen, maybe for a start, can you post the types of mushroom that you have and state the requirement. Other will then add on if they see that what you post does not include theirs, this way, the reference for mushroom for the begineer will grow in this way. Sometimes I don't quite trust the web as what they list is those "Ang Moh" kind of mushrooms, usually cannot find in Singapore one. I believe all those mushroom lover who got their mushrooms locally, their specimen should be quite localised to Singapore and should be easy for all of us to get that kind of specimen in Singapore. Maybe for a start, I should contribute to what I have Green Mushroom, this is what I call it. Living under 4x40W PL light. Depth of tank is 2.5ft, so I presume this kind of mushroom does not require alot of light, medium light should do. Feed with Marine de lux, Mico vert, Phytoplex and add Iodine, Strontium once a week. So far so good, has been with me for about 6 months. Expand up to 4-5 inch each. The photo shown is taken in November 2002, will take a recent one this weekend. So Mushroom lover, please add on and keep theball rolling.....

Hi Spade, so far so good, I will try to take a pictures over the weekend and post it. Don't expect much things, I only keep leather, mushroom and Brain, not as fancy as those with SPS..... Was thinking to put a LR stacker and trim away one of the leather which is about 12"-15" when fully open.... let see how it goes.. Parameter wise, well I am still high on Nitrate(50ppm), low on light(waiting to see the Deltec T5 light), high on hair algae and diatoms and some cyano. So far all my corals that have purchase for the last 6 months has not die on me yet..... wow time really fly, I have started my reef for almost 7 months hopefully things will turn out right in the coming days

bum, can you elaborate what kind of mushroom will need what kind of light? To many of us, mushroom is just mushroom, difficult to name their scientific name, so if you have pictures of each of the common mushrooms that can be purchase locally and their light requirement, that will be great!!!! erhh... am I asking too much

I think Petmart has the cheapest eheim product for their 126x series...
-
yep, they put it in all their FO tank as this will protect the fish from some kind of disease.. That is why never pour in the water that comes with the fish into a reef tank.....
-
If your budget is $120, that can only bring you to PL and FL. T5 is way out of reach.. Look at the Eaquanature, they have quite good light set for PL and FL.
-
to add, I think at centerpoint Robinson, at the ground floor in the comestic section, they also have a 4-5 ft tank...... Anyone wonder why they always put a marine tank at comestic section? At Wisma Atria, at the food court, 2 marine tank FO.....
-
Hard to say, me using PL lights now, would definetly try for T5.. So when can I get the retrofit kit and how much will it cost! As for MH, not a fan even from begining, Very hot, eat electricity....
-
some comparison in the US using the VHO vs the T5 aquaphilics
-
dodo, can you do a break down of the cost for the whole setup? Also you did not mentioned about the heat generated. What other personal observance you have when you start using the T5? The pictures will only show the colour of the light, but a personal account from you will be the best.

Hi guys Sushi Tei at China Square is having a pretty good offer that goes on all the way till 30 April. Probably since it is being situated in the CBD at the China Square Central business is pretty poor during the weekend, and they are now offering all their conveyor belt items (except the premium stuff like sashimi) at a low low price of $1.50 per plate. This includes stuff like the usual nigri sushi, and also slightly higher-priced stuff like California Maki, Chawanmushi and Salmon Salad. The even better news is that fish can only stay fresh that long, and I think they are resorting to giving customers extra large portions of fish in order to prevent additional wastage. So it's really cheap and good! What's more, if you pay with Citibank credit cards or UOB credit cards, you get an additional 10% off! So how abt it? Sushi anyone?

Red Macroalgae cause a red layer of oil
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in General Reefkeeping_
As my macro are in the middle compartment in the sump, so do you suggest that I put the carbon there? I am just curious how does the skimmer skim it since it is a layer of oil on the surface? The skimmer intake is at the bottom and the layer of oil is on top. -

AT, those red Macro algae that I have is the same as yours, do you encounter the same issues as me? -
Hi guys This question is intend to those that have red Macro algae in their Sump or refugium. Do you see that there is a layer of oil form on the water surface? When you use a plastic cup and scoup the water up, the side of the cup will be stain with the film of oil, usually light red in color is this normal? Or is it my red Macro algae is putting some chemical that I must be worried of? Please advised, thanks.
