Titanium/reef Relief Chiller Owners Thread!
clowntrigger replied to Achilles Tang's topic in Product Reviews
Reef relief : 0.5hp -
Hi Williammuk for comparison, you will need to compare it 1/2hp to 1/2hp. The reason why I say that is I have a chance to compare a same brand of chiller but with different h/p. The 1/4hp ones was very quite indeed, but when the 1/2hp turn on, immediately you can hear the difference, the 1/2 hp was like roaring. This is what I gather from my experiences in that brand of chiller, just my thought.

as far as I know, Reef/Titanium relief is the quitest around among Teco, Haliea, Slifigoi, Ocean free, Resun and NSEW. This is my personal experience, thanks.

Where To Get The Replacement Ph Probe
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in Product Reviews
tks, mmhhh. $80+ for a probe is definetly expensive. The last time I see someone posted was about $40+ for the probe at Sim Lim Tower, I just need to confirm again which shop exactly it is. You know what, at $80+, I would add in a bit more cash and get a brand new Taiwan PH monitor set, just a thought Should have thought of the cleaner, now my entire lower portion of the probe is cover with coraline algae and I think I have damaged the probe while trying to scrab away the coraline algae. -
Where To Get The Replacement Ph Probe
clowntrigger replied to clowntrigger's topic in Product Reviews
Tks, mine is those Taiwan brand one. Sim Lim tower or Sea Life? -
Hi guys Previously there is a thread on where to get the replacement PH probe, and I think it is lost, do a search and nothing pop up. Can someone advised where to get the probe and also what is the estimated price? I believe all the probe are using BNC connector, so does that mean that those probe that I get will be compatiable with the different brand of monitor? Please advised, thanks.

Previously I am using those 2 ft FL for my marco algae, always, within a month, the algae will turn asexual. I have change to a 36W 6500K PL light, and my macro algae loves it. Thay are now growing at a much better rate. I don't switch on my light for 24 hours, just 12 hours only.

Do you know that Xenia is prone to crash in tank? You can ask around how many people have successfully keep a xenia, just my thought. One moment you can see them blooming, the next day, they will just melt away... -
From the look of it, it is not a Pinpoint PH meter. A Pinpont pH meter has 2 decimal places and it will cost you around $300 to buy in Singapore, just FYI.

New Shop Converting..
clowntrigger replied to metals99's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
Was there yesterday and saw they have these 2 tiny display tank, I think less than 1 ft kind. They include the tank, a hangon filter, a light, a air pump, a air stone, size#15 coral chips and the less than 1 ft tank, all going for $98. This is sick man..... Can someone tell them that this is no way to keep marine fish.... -
Usually what I do is as follow 1. Add 1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water. 2. Mix them together. 3. Let the mixture stand for 1 to 1.5 hour to allow the residue to sink to the bottom. 4. With the clear solution, drip into the sump or main tank at 1 drip per second. 5. Throw away the residue, do not reuse it. One word of caution, know what is your depletion rate of calcium and KH first before you embark on dripping the Kalk, do not follow blindly what poeple is doing.

IMO, if you need a Hang On skimmer, try going for remora series, don't waste your money on the Prism. If you intend to use it for a in sump purpose, go for H&S or euroreef..

is that positive or negative? Maybe you can give us a short glimpse of what you think about the chiller, I think all of us are very interested to know about it.

Well the rule is never do anything drastic at one go. If you want to add sand to become DSB, I would say do it weekly, add in a few cup a week, very tideous, but in that way you will be making very minimum changes to the sand bed. This is what I did for my 4 ft tank, slow and easy... Don't even need to remove any rocks or fish...

Is My Live Rock Dying?
clowntrigger replied to cloudyrain's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Coraline algae need calcium to grow, just take note. There might be lots of reason why it die, but it you can provide its need, that is High calcium, good water condition, in no time the coraline algae should grow back. -
Just some tips on keeping ricordea, feed them with mysis shrimp or small pieces of prawn meat, trust me, they will love it and they will grow big in no time. try the feeding once a week, hope this help.

The 10 mm is at the top, on the side is less than 10mm. When you buy any clam, you will seldom see new growth on it, so I am very sure that these are new growth also I have been monitoring very often on it. Usually new growth is very brittle, it will break during shipping and handling, that is why you seldom see it.
-
Ok, this may not be a good representation of it, but if you look at the edge, you can see that there isn't any white scale growing as compare to the previous pictures, refer to the red circles. The pictures are taken on 16 june 2003.
-
I think it is 3 inch+ when i buy it, now i believe it has grown about 10 to 15mm.
-
Just like to share, I bought this clam on 14 June 2003 and this is the growth rate as of today. Sorry for the darkness as this is taken in the night where the mantle is shruck into the shell for photo taking.

If you need a silent chiller, Reef Relief is the only one to go. Goto the following review Reef Relief a 0.5HP one will done for your tank..

That is the piece that you break it from the main one, remember? I stick it on the rocks and let it grow... The main piece is also growing, but I do not have a detail growth pictures of it, that is why I posted the smallest pcs one..
-
Just put it on the rocks that you want it to be, place a small piece of rock over it. In time to come, the tubeworm will either stuck to the base rocks or the small rocks. The other way is to put it into a hole in the rocks, if you are able to. Hope this help..
