current my tank has diatom.. if i put the FR will it remove the diatom automatically or should i remove the diatom 1st?

IMO i always wash the LR with freshwater.. never had once stink my tank.. you will know how much of unwanted pest crawing out

The pump did have some oil when i open up the cap...so i guess should be the oil lor...
