  1. Usually people would go for Grade 1 or Grade 0 sand as they make good sandbed and a suitable environment for those bacterias namely, anaerobic hertetrophs and aerobic hertetrophs to live.As more R&D are conducted now, people have found the DSB to be a huge source of nutrients as they leak PO4 into your system, this is one reason why people convert to BB systems...
  2. yes,the pump must be placed in water but the skimmer can hang outside
  3. They do not include a pump in the box
  4. Those air-stone skimmers just need a decent air pump...
  5. erm,u mean those air-stone powered ones??

    New Toy

Its a needlewheel-impeller,its fitted inside a pump so the pumps can produce micro-bubbles which are efficient for skimming
  8. Let keep it simple. There are critters in the LRs,which are called pods. They can multiply(in a stable environment) and become food for your fish and inverterbrates... Ah,11watts hang-on,those dymax type rite...Its ok only if u are keeping fish and non light requirment inverterbrates
  9. u may get one or two or three small pieces of LRs for your fish to hide or for your shrimps to hide... A skimmer is a must unless u are prepared to do water changing on alternate days... Anyway, this hobby IS expensive. How can u also spare the buying of LRs.. If you are on budget (like me),u should try to in the least get a good filter,a good skimmer and good lights(if u are keeping corals)... Moreover,in LRs there are critters which can become food for your starfish and clowns.
  10. Do mushrooms start to shrivel, then detach themselves from the rock.My chromises start to die off one by one despite them being able to feed...
  11. wad colour is the 'sai'. Maybe your coco worm is spawning
  12. Good job. Managed to save a rare table acro from dying. IMO,tables are very difficult to frag

  14. Erm,refractometer are those that look like light sabers. The one u are selling is Hydrometer
  15. yes,its peaceful.. Its just that some reefers don't want it in their tank
  16. Hang on filter enoughlight enough.. Please try to do more reading on sites like www.wetwebmedia.com.IMO very good site
  17. Thanks alot..Gouldian for your help... Anyway, does many people face this Ionic Imbalance problem?
  18. Blue Tangs are large fish?I have seen BTs the size of an adult plam... NSW is ok,just get them from LFS.. About air-stone skimmer, get the best skimmer because next time u want to upgrade u do not have to buy another skimmer..I am not saying that u get a beckket for ur nano but rather get a good sized one
  19. hmm,may considering partial water changes again Have been doing that ever since March as this was what some guy from Iwarna told me.Then recently, went to ask around for other advice and this LFS told me that my softies are stressed out because of my salinity which is around 1.025,then he recommend me to lower it to 1.020 which i believe is hyposalinity. Hmm,duno wad to do next. Yesterday i just dosed me calcium and my softies seems to react better, they begin to expand much more.
