Valuable livestocks, especially fish/inverts/frags I will usually transfer them into a separate container of tank water before rescape. Add them back into tank once everything settles down.

Realised my air intake was at the other end(blur me) Just maxed it out and its foaming right now. Let's see what kind of skimmate it can produce

The genus Halichoeres contains a variety of "melanurus" look-alike(some of which I also cannot really id). This popular genus also contains many popular and well-known pest-busters such as Halichoeres leucoxanthus. Whether or not nudi-eating I cannot assure, but it would be good to monitor and give it a shot I suppose. As in the wild, these fellows are not obligate nudi eaters and its only in the aquaria that aquarists document them as effective nudi-eaters. No matter what, I hope it will for you and wish you all the best!

Cyano is taking over my sandbed and I realised that my skimmer is not skimming as desired. Took it out and gave it a wipedown and didn't find any problems. Its been day 2 since I last washed it and there is still not much skimmate formed. Don't know whether is it still breaking in again or is there other reasons. According to this photo, the bubbles seem okay. http://s1059.photobucket.com/albums/t437/daybreaks91/?action=view¤t=DSC_0567.mp4 And I'm currently running FM Ultraphos in my reactor. Just changed the media to a fresh batch yesterday and PO4 readings were 0.8ppm this morning. How should I deal with this evil nemesis?

I usually add Reef Builder(SeaChem) premixed with RO water directly into a high flow area in the sump. Haven't observed any apparent cloudiness. Usually cloudiness could mean precipitates. I would check for any buildup amongst my pumps first. Then followed by a kH test of the aquarium water. Otherwise, the cloudiness should only be temporary when you are adding due to dilution of the saltwater. To be safe, if its something unknown to me, I wouldn't take the chance to add in it. Spare the few dollars and save your aquarium instead.

I've attached a photo for reference. Not the best quality but I hope it suffice:)

Hi fellow reefers, The inlet elbow of my TLF Phosban reactor just split at the seams. As a temporary measure, I decided to go ahead and do without the elbow and inserted the hose direct into the inlet. However, by doing this, I'm afraid the hose would kink and the water flow for the inlet be greatly reduced. I believe I am not the only person experiencing this issue and have received advice from fellow reefers to go with the above method. Just wondering if there is any others out there with better methods to secure the hose. Here is a link from down under for someone who replaced the elbows with more solid fittings and I think its a great idea. http://www.thereefuge.com.au/threads/two-little-fishies-rubber-90-degree-connector-leaking.6996/ Any comments would be grealty appreciated:)

Here's a pic of my calcium chloride powder which I bought. I observe them to be white, opaque and snow flake-like as opposed to sodium bicarb which tends to be powdered form most of the time.

Has expressed interest on the EcoSMART MP10w ES selling at $250. Dropped you a PM already Thanks

I beg to differ. Definitely not a melanurus as they have striped body as opposed to a network of green and pink in this. Try Halichoeres argus. This should be it:)

Really adore the workmanship of this skimmer and the amount of effort put in by the makers themselves. Another reefer is using this brand too, his tank thread is here for reference.

A 3ft tiny piece of ocean in my living room

Love your setup! What wavemaker are you using for this tank? How do you supplement your Ca levels? -
Codium sp. http://www.reeflex.net/tiere/1960_Codium_fragile.htm It's macroalgae. Good if you like them or have a Fuge to keep it

Basically the rocks just underwent a royal rumble. Finally decided on this scape for now. Dumped a packet of CaribSea Ocean Direct live sand into the tank yesterday and it turned the entire tank cloudy. Was so worried that livestocks will dieoff but luckily no casualties and tested the water last night for assurance, luckily nothing. My itchy hands resulted in my trying to raise my Ca levels using calcium chloride powder. Levels went up to 500ppm and I'm trying to do water changes to lower it now. Luckily LS are all still doing well. Will stop fiddling with any supplements for now until levels are back to normal. As the old saying goes, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Now I know...HAHAHA

Rocks sold Mods please close thread. Thanks!

IMO unless your tank is SPS intensive with colonies. I don't think you will need additives for Mg. Regular water changes should replenish the levels My tank has mostly LPS softies and a frag of encrusting sps and my Mg levels are nicely maintained with water changes using a good salt mix

That's epoxy putty Mix the resin with the hardener and then mash them up and wait for it to set. Apply some moisture to soften it to knead properly..and voila! Most people sandwich the putty in between the plug and the superglue gel as it provides better grip. I like to do it as well but sometimes I'm just plain lazy so I use a little more gel and apply it directly onto the plug and hold it for about 10-20seconds on the desired location for it to set

BSI Glue, CorAffix by two little fishies are all ethyl cyanoacrylate based and have a gel-like texture. They are all suitable for glueing frags/coral pieces to LR. I think you can't go wrong as long as the glue is cyanoacrylate gel type

Did anyone know what is my Snail doing??
veliferium replied to Gideon's topic in General Reefkeeping_
The correct term should be dioecious. They will require both M and F of the same species to reproduce successfully. -

veliferium replied to Gideon's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Congrats bro! Your snail is releasing its gametes in order to fertilize the eggs. Try looking around the tank to see if you have a clump of eggs which are attached to the glass
