  1. Looking for the above-mentioned item! IF you've got to declutter it do feel free to im me!
  2. Selling individual? Keen on left, but what's the height on it?
  3. Nice to see it grow over time! (Y)
  4. Hello! My NO3's at 10 as per last reading, and PO4 at 0.153ppm from my hanna, so I doubt so. I started running the T5s but don't see much difference, maybe its only been 1 week of running haha, but I'll let it run its course and update asap! So far no browning, but a tad bit bleaching... my guess is stress due to light changes, but my torches are bouncing back!
  5. Hello reefers! My tank's a 2ftx1ftx1.5ft -> LxWxH (PS the photo's old). I currently run a Zetlight QMaven 6600T for my mixed reef and it's doing decently okay. I got my hands on 2x Coral Plus T5 bulbs (39W) and wanted to try it out with my LEDs to see how it goes. But I'm concerned with it browning/bleaching out the LPSs I have Are there any thing I should take note of? Or of there's a lighting schedule to follow? I had intended the following: 1. Running 1x T5 Coral Plus first, then ramping up to 2 if it suits (provided pest algae doesn't grow). 2. Turning the lights on for a 4 hour period everyday. However, the question then boils down to this ... Should I run the T5 together with my daylight setting on the zetlight? or should I run the T5s in the evening, when I have a high percentage of blues in the tank? Any advise is news to my amateur ears Cheers and TIA!

  7. That's a really cool way to chill your tank! Does your return pump cycle some water into the cooling coil chamber?
  8. Like others suggested, getting a good cleanup crew (CUC) mixed with Nassarius Snails, turbo snails, tuxedo urchins and even some blennys that munch on algaes are good! Alternatively, whenever you do a weekly/periodic water change, try using a gravel vacuum. If your corals are RTN/STN-ing due to you cleaning, then you might need to think what's causing that. Whenever I use a gravel-vac to suck my sand/substrate, my corals do fine. Could be numerous factors or guesses, but all the best!
  9. Based on what I've experienced, anemones tend to move around your tank until they find a safe/comfortable spot to latch on to. That means, no you don't have to remove your GSPs since the BTAs are likely gonna float around til they find a spot they like! Although, you could get an anemone cup if it's something you'll consider, otherwise just let the anemone find where it likes.
  10. Birds nests, poccis, montis are all considerably easy, can try validas too!
  11. PMed you for phosphate checker!
  12. I did some testing and research, and found that my KH drops 0.4ppm in 4 days, averaging to around 0.1ppm per day! Does that substantiate for dosing? Or can I just make do with drip-acclimating style, to slowly increase the KH back to 9?
  13. Hello reefer! Fellow amateur reefer also! Think it could be some kind of sponge, is there flow around that coral? If no, try putting some gentle flow. Last thing you want is some bad layer of bacteria growing over it
  14. Hey ya reefer! Yep I read it! Really insightful! Will try testing out my waters more frequently to see how much I need, before I dive into dosing! Thanks a lot!
  15. Hi again fellow reefers! Rescaped my tank yesterday, added some rocks and shifted things around for a cleaner look! Right now, I barely dose magnesium and calcium as I do my water-tests every mid week and see that their levels are fine. Only my KH is of worry as it drops 0.4ppm every 4 days which I resolve by pre-mixing a bit of KH Buffer powder with RO water, to add into my tank every 4 days. Thus, I've been wanting to setup a Jebao auto-doser to manage my KH, Magnesium and Calcium along with possibly RedSea's AB+ since the doser has 4 channels ... But I have some concerns. 1) Noise: I hear that dozers running becomes rather loud, is there a way to silence it? I.e., putting in a cabinet or small table-side shelf? But I am concerned I will kink the tubings. 2) Setting up: How do I know how much to dose? 3) Dosing liquids: What kind of liquids do I use to dose? And what are balling? Do LFS's sell the pre-mix liquids? At the same time, I'm looking to buy scolys, like bleeding apples, and yellow submarine favias or any that's within $100 hahaha. Drop me a PM! Hope to get some insights! Thanks in advance.
  16. Like reefer JiaEn said, could be a bacteria film developing over your rocks. Have you tried blasting a stronger current on the rocks?

  18. Hahaha just my 2 cents worth of thought! but glad it gave you some direction !
  19. Hahaha I asked around, i think i'll likely consider a 2nd hand 64HD in time to come
  20. \ Hi fellow reefers! This is my 2ft mixed-reef tank, pardon the corals scattered at the bottom... this is a 2ft length, by 1ft width and 1.5ft height tank. I'm running a Zetlight QMaven 6600, but is thinking of upgrading my lights to an AI Hydra 64HD or 32HDs or even Radions, but I am unsure how much and whether it's good or not! Any advices on the following? 1) If I run 1x AI Hydra 64HD, will it be enough PAR or light? 2) If I choose for the cheaper AI Hydra 32HD, how many do I need? 3) For a 2ft tank, what's a good Radion light to run?
  21. Currently running a 2ft (60cm) IOS. Hope I do a fair bit of justice in addressing some of your reefing questions 1. SPSs don't necessarily have to follow high-tech/demanding/costly systems. Simply put, just keep your nitrates and phos's at a tolerable level. Assuming that you want a mixed reef, with LPSs and SPSs, then keep the nitrates and phosphates at an acceptable level. Get test-kits like Hanna for the ULR... or if you're on a budget (like me) then get Salifert's for a start and work your way up the test-kit. Personally, I run a chaeto reactor (DIY) and a Bubble Magus QQ2 skimmer that's just hanging at a dead spot in the tank! I do put a bag of carbon and a small bag of GFO I DIY using a tea-sock in the overflow. That being said, I change my filter-floss almost every other day, since I target-feed RedSea's AB+ as well as Polyp Lab's ReefRoids. 2. A mature tank itself is a good nutrient export system. But if you don't have that luxury, then ensure that you keep your beneficial bacteria up either by introducing them after your water changes (Fritz 9, Nite-out II, Dr Tims etc.), and also control the harmful ones. You can try wet-skimming (i.e., skimming more/aggressively for a lighter skimmate), or clean the filter-floss/sock regularly so the food you feed doesn't end up becoming nutrients for the pest algae. It is good to note that light, and water parameters play an essential part too, besides keeping the water at a pristine condition for your corals. 3. It depends ultimately. Reefers here advise once a week for IOS, but I think a sump tank can go well with 1 to 2 weeks without water change, assuming you keep checking your parameters (Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, Calc, Mags, KHs, Phos etc.) A good rule I follow is, if I tend to feed heaviler, then maybe doing a bit of water change will help bring down the harmful stuff. But it's again worth to note, changing water, in a tank with substrate can become dangerous if you don't stir your sand-bed... The list goes on, but plan ahead and it should be okay! 4. Chase consistency, don't chase numbers. I learnt this the hard way, when I underdose and overdose back in the past. Being 4 months into this hobby had opened my eyes to a lot of stuff! Ultimately, I owe thanks to other senior reefers in this forum for guiding on the right way to maintain a reef tank. You can always check out YouTube or other medias for great advices, but find one that works for you and stick to it. My advice at the end of this is, if the stuff in your tank is working, try not to touch or fiddle with it. Often times, getting TOO involved into your corals, such as finding placement etc... and shifting it around, tends to annoy and piss the hell out of them. Plan ahead... place them in... then watch them grow! All the best in you mixed reef adventures!
