Go for pressure rated pump as it will give you much higher flowrate when there's huge pressure lost in your application. Let me recall this example: RIO 32HF 8000 l/h Pressure Head: 4.3 m Resun MD55 3000++ l/h Pressure Head: ~ 8 m In the first case, let say there's a pressure lost of 1.8 m (due to height, bends, frictions etc.) RIO 32HF will give u 4940 l/h and MD55 would probably give u close to 3000 l/h. So in this case RIO 32HF produce higher flowrate. But now say due to the same situation but with beckett nozzle the head lost is 4.3 m (just an extreme example here for illustration), what's the flowrate of RIO32HF? 0 l/h !! As RIO 32HF generated pressure head is totally lost (to back-pressure), but in this case MD55 (or any pressure rated pump) will probably gives u more than half of its rated flowrate, which is still above 1500 l/h (the relationship of flowrate vs. pressure lost is not linear, so normally the figure will easily surpass 1500 l/h). So that's why many avocates to use non-pressure rated pump for low head lost application (i.e as return pump) but pressure rated pump to drive beckett skimmer or to return water to tank that's way high up (ie. from sump in basement to the main tank in living room, ang moh like to do this ) Happy reefing..

Normally we use a Fluidized Reactor with phosphate absorbing media (eg. rowaphos, aquazphos etc.) to absorb phosphate, silica etc. to help keep diatom/cyno in check. You may want to read some articles in SRC pertaining to cyno-bacteria, diatom, etc. to know the actual cause and plan for the most appropriate action. Cheers.
-
Hi bro I think you are referring to Fludized Reactor (FR) right?
-
Over here it cost S$7-12 per kg But I've never buy any LR from LFS since the start.. always get them from reefers here.. cheap cheap

Durso pipe (do a search in this forum) which is simply a PVC pipe with few elbows, "T", and end cap joint together can work wonders in reducing the noise almost completely. U can easily DIY one yourself. http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ (take note of the location of the upper elbow, try to keep it higher so that it reduce the water drop height and hence minimize the noise). Happy reefing.

Hee hee.. I also bought one based on Eric's thread... Can't wait to fire it up, but still got to wait my current BLV to die first ha ha..

Thanks bro. Upz for a good piece of tunze accesories.. -
Actually to get this overflow pipe works, you need to consider few things: 1. Pipe size, the larger, the higher the flow it can handle. 1.5" dia and above would be good. 2. The height difference between your tank water level and the "T-section" of the overflow pipe outside of the tank. The larger the height difference, the stronger the siphoning power, and hence higher flow. For the skimmer size, it's better to use a larger diameter ones. I have made one with ~5" in diameter for my current set-up. Will try to post it in the DIY forum tonight, take a look to have some idea. I think i explained how the physical dimension of the over-flow pipe affects the maximum flow capacity of the overflow pipe in the post mentioned above, please read through and you should be able to find out the answer. For fast and easy solution, get it from bro alien07 Btw, this thread is suppose to be in DIY forum instead of buy-sell forum

Bro, pls refer to this thread http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...846&hl=overflow All you need to know about over-flow pipe is here. Method to start the siphoning of the overflow pipe is explained in my post inside this thread too. Happy reefing.
