  1. I am not sure but I think the shuttle bus is also operating in the weekdays. Try ring up Sungai Buloh ppl to see if you can obtain more up to date info. LCK 240 is ~ 100 m diagonally opposite to LCK110 (see attached image)
  2. That's a valuable piece of information. Bro perhaps I can join you LFShing at KL whenever I got back to my hometown But yet again.. if found nice piece of lps or sps also cannot buy.. ... lfshing will only make me feel bad then...

  4. Cool.... Thank you for sharing.... I was thinking of doing that also... first come to my mine was the study lamp by IKEA.. think it's around $5 or so.. then add a PL bulb total will be around $10 onli (adjustable some more...but might rust later ) This will remains an option at moment, as I think a 1 feet hang on PL will look neater Btw bro are you using Philips Cold Daylight PL bulb? I read a post here saying this bulb is suitable for used in the refugium. Opps.. this thread is more like a DIY thread liao.... will I get tick tok from AT
  5. Can try... in fact last time the immigration officer asked me what kind of corals that I was trying to bring in while he was on the phone with AVA personnel.. Stupid me I told him it's lps HARD coral ... should have ommited the "HARD" description and who knows I might be lucky... well I paid the price for not doing proper research... But if that officer happend to be a reefer then not a single chance at all...
  6. So far no problem. Just replaced one of the overflow box (DIYed wrongly) used in my tank for 1 month plus, still intact. If anything goes wrong will keep u guys posted (knocking wood liao... )
  7. Thanks for sharing. Will do that when buying.
  8. wah sounds scary... Even a 11w PL can melt wire ah? Should I get FL then ....
  9. I just got back from LCK110 last Sat. There's a FREE shuttle bus leaving from Kranji MRT (just wait below the overhead pedestrian crossing). It will stops along LCK Farms (and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserved also), alight at LCK240, which is just 100 m away from LCK110 Think the frequentcy is twice hourly, can ring up Sungei Buloh's guy to check I didn't know that so took cab from Kranji to LCK (but came back by the shuttle bus anyway ). p/s: The shuttle bus also leaves from Boonlay.. just that I don't know where is the pick up point. Anyone to clarify this?
  10. Thanks bro. Petmart a bit far ler.. if there's reefer in the west area who is letting go their 1 ft than better lor.. no need to travel so far mar...
  11. Bro take a look at this DIY coral feeder.. can soak ur sun coral with cyclopleeze without affecting ur tank water too badly.. http://www.reefrancher.com/diy/lunarlander/ I just got mine yesterday from a bro here. Thinking of making one later in the day and feed mine with frozen cyclopleeze... hope it will grow fat fat
  12. Can use black oyama paper as background, then wrapped ur overflow box with black oyama paper also... I did that to mine, hardly noticeable
  13. Hi Reefers, Any kind soul giving/selling 2nd hand 1 feet PL lights? Am looking a cheap cheap one for my refugium. Please PM me if you have any offer. Thanks
  14. Wow! Nice!! For the first time I am able to reply to a sale post the moment it's posted... How I wish I could grab it right away... However, I not sps ready yet.. NO3 20 ppm Up for your sales bro!! p/s: perhaps can get some nice frag from you when I am sps ready
  15. Thanks bro for your info. I am not blowing the fan directly across the bulb though. It's housed inside the light casing and blow air across the reflector where the MH bulb is enclosed .. should be fine right? I remember I read an article somewhere (reefkeeping or something) on MH bulb and the article said that as MH buld is operating at very high temp. (in the region of a few hundreds deg. C), blowing a fan even directly on it will not affect the temp. much and hence there shouldn't be worry about spectrum shift. Anyone to clarify?
  16. So glad that my little info helps. Bro can your 1/2" overflow cope with the return flowrate? I am using two 1" overflow coz I find the flowrate of using just one of them can't keep up with my return flow (made some mistake in the 1st one, too short and hence the flowrate is limited).. U might want to take note of that Using Rio 20HF now.. I think the flow could reach 3000 l/h after the head loss... with a total water volume of 100 L I have 30X of turnover per hour
  17. I got mine at my hometown, a town 25 km from KL downtown (I was born in KL). This sites has some info on LFS in KL http://www.myfish.info/ (website currently down ) some do sell fresh water fishes on the street in buckets , but I have never come across with any marine LS on sales on the street. As for LFS in Malaysia (comment based on the two LFS that I have visited), SPS is generally absence. LPS (I find them cheaper) and softies (not quite cheap, quoted RM50 for a green button rock ) are abound. One of the LFS I visited have very matured DSB in working.. can see bubbles all around the DSB. No MH though.. Natural sunlight (FREE ) directed straight from a translucent ceiling (wooden house here bro). Not many high end equipment (mostly china made.. no eheim, salifert, AquaC, Beckett etc. spotted). I think sometime back a SRC member from KL posted a review on a PS he/she found in the MOST Extablished LFS in KL -- Macro PS
  18. Hi Bro, Buying corals from abroad.. you probably need to check with AVA... I bought one green luminious 5 head frogspawn and a green luminious brain (cheaper, paid only S$50 for both) from KL and they ended in.... Sentosa Underwater world Was told that I need a permit to bring in hard corals.... sigh... these two nice ones were confiscated and sent to sentosa. With respect to AVA regulation, one can only bring in (as for individual used) Fishes (non-endagered) - 30 fishes in not more that 3 litres of packing water Marine Invert and softies - 5 kg total weight Hard/CITES corals - 5 pieces, CITES permit required still missing the two corals... sob sob My 2 cents, no need to thank me though - just bring in ric for me when you go to florida
  19. Ha ha... bro can consider your idea... may be I typed the manual and u print them out for those who needs it? I have made a new one with sloted PVC pipe as surface skimmer as shown by bro melvin. Will post some photos tomorrow or sunday. I have figure out way to secure the skimmer to the over-flow using PVC reducer (but needs some cutting, tapping work). Will share them later.
  20. yes you are right bro. It's located at Hong Leong Shopping Center to be precise
  21. I was at ML yesterday too.. many nice LS.. Henry said they (all of them?) are net caught. Just to add on to bro lvcap stock list... Lots of ###### Shrimps (pretty big size) some translucent shrimps (what's their name?) got very small and cute yellow tangs (2-3 pcs, ~ 2"), crabs (close relative to sally lightfoot.. henry said they performed similar function) High Fin Gobies 3 Spotted Mandarins (fat fat.. > 6 cm, one very large in fact) Got some very rare fishes (very small but exortic looking high fin gobies, don't know the name , in the small tub placed in his display's sump) Pipe fishes (~ 5 cm), in the small tub with those exortic gobies what else.. can't recognize them, newbie here
