  1. Mine. 3 months into making. Still stocking up, tank still not as colorful as many tanks in SRC. p/s: the percula pair died of clown fish dieases recently. Added my favourate fish 2 weeks ago - spotted mandarin . And it's feeding on pods and mysis now
  2. ok. Will take a look tonite. Thanks for all your valuable info.
  3. did some read up.. so I shall be happy if it's brittle star.. but some how this fellow is embeded inside the LR ler.. can't see it's body except 2-3 tantacles coming out from the LR. Anyone to confirm? ryz.. it does not look like bristle worm ler as I can't see it's head (I had few of them, flush those I managed to catch into toilet already).
  4. Thanks bro. Is brittle star harmful? Should I leave it alone or remove it? I have like 3 of them located in different LR. As for the algae, I have no tang, turbo snails seems to consume them (not sure though). Sally light foot can't reach them... But if it's not propagating too fast till it become a nuisance then I will clean it with magnetic cleaner every now and then.. but if it's nuisance then I am in trouble liao..
  5. Another one.. about 3 mm in length, looks like algae... stick on glass surface, very hard to remove, need to scrub a few times with magnet cleaner to remove it. Pest?? Please help me ID this. Thanks
  6. This one is an unidentify invert hidden in the LR. There are few tantacles (2 each) about 20 mm long coming out from the rock when there's current, picture captured only one. Don't know what is this...
  7. Ballast housed in used PC power supply casing. Added one PC fan here to cool the ballast too (cover removed for photo taking)
  8. Fixed the PC fan (a bit ugly coz fan too big, but it work)
  9. Should post this in DIY section. Will I get tick tok from AT Ok. The MH casing (opened, ballast removed).
  10. I didn't know that I need a CITES permit to bring in hard coral that time.. I thought it was okay since these corals are also available in the LFS here.. learn it through a hard way lor.. But if you are bringing in fishes or softies.. it shouldn't be any problem.. perhaps you can carry the print-out of what're permitted by AVA to show them for ease of clearance. In my case the custom officer actually called AVA to seek opinion.
  11. eh... picture not with me, stored in home pc.. will post some tonite..
  12. U can't remove scratch on glass easily as glass is a very hard materials. Unlike acrylic where u can some how dissolve it with chem. solution and remove whatever scrath mark on it. If you really want to try, you can use fine (~2-3 um grain size) diamond polishing paste (~$20-$40 per tube) to polish away the scratch marks. But mind you that this is gonna be a time consuming process depending on the depth of the scratch mark.. the deeper the more time consuming it would be.. I have not tried that manually but I do machine glass with diamond grinding wheels and finished them to mirror like surface finish using diamond polishing paste. Try to check with KEMET's suppliers here as they make lots of commercial diamond products. Can check with them for advise too. Alternatively, I did come across with some filler where ppl used to repair crack windscreen.. try check with car workshops to get a second opinion. my 0.02 cents.
  13. You can request not to scan your fishes ... I did that to my coral which I tried to bring in last time (confiscated ) at Woodlands Checkpoint.. just tell them you have got live marine fish in there and you do not want them to go through the X-ray scan.
  14. am I consider victim no. 2 then? ha ha poor reeflobang
  15. I posted this info in another thread before. here you go: With respect to AVA regulation, one can only bring in (as for individual used) Fishes (non-endagered) - 30 fishes in not more than 3 litres of packing water Marine Invert and softies - 5 kg total weight Hard/CITES corals - 5 pieces, CITES permit required
  16. Hi I am using 150W MH with 36W actinic in my 2 feet too. I placed the light ~ 8 " from water surface. With 2x6" fan blowing the water in the display tank and sump, I managed to maintain the water temp. approximately 2C lower than ambient temp (last night it was 26C onli). In addition, I also added a 4" PC fan to blow across the MH casing, thus loweing its temp. further. Ballast (major heat source) is also removed and used remotely. If you do not intend to get a chiller then you will need to use fans... 6" or larger is the better size to consider. Try reduce the number of power heads you used in your tank for this is one of the major source of heat gain of your tank water. I used only 1x50W (4500 l/h though) return pump and 1x38W (3000 l/h) Skimmer pump. Am thinking of getting a lower wattage skimmer pump to reduce the temp. further.
  17. Some update. Got a reply from the LFS and was told that the pair were doing fine in their tank. Not blamming them as I mentioned the death could be due to many other factors. Btw they promised to reserve and quarantine a pair for me if there's any shipment in the future (with good pricing). Very very good service indeed. p/s: don't PM me and ask which LFS is that hor... else kanna flamed by the LFS when everybody starts to ask for good pricing...
  18. Yes you are right that sometimes due to stress LS might developed sickness. I don't blame the LFS as they might not have notice it either. Will try to call them later to seek clarification. Not good to mention the LFS name as this might jeopodize their business due to some unintentional mistake they've made. Further it could be due to my tank problem (though I don't really think so as other LS are doing very well). Try Coral Farm if you are looking for Percula, give them a call and ask if they have new shipment of Percula as the remaining stocks 2 weeks ago are not very nice (my pair is not from there though).
  19. Bro Fuel, mine is doing fine too. But of course not doble in size and height like Nickel's. Anyway all three open very nicely. Open big big whenever I feed them with Phytoplankton or cyclopz.. Need info on how to separate them too (really a bit crowded). PM me please. Upz for your sales
  20. Thanks. The brain is recovering. In fact some new flesh is regenerated from its wound liaoz... Still feeding it daily with mysis shrimps, will let it growth fat fat before putting it back to the main tank.
  21. Latest progress.. the 2nd clown die this morning. Is that possible that I have got a sick pair from LFS? As clown are generally quite hardy, I don't really think they will caught this bug and die so quickly. Anyway, I think I got to wait for few months to clear the patogen before adding new clown. Now can wait and shop slowly until I find a really nice and HEALTHY pair As for the need of anemone host, from variuos reference books, most clowns (except certain species, but definately not percula) can thrive without anemone. In fact I do read through many sites to be certain that this info is accurate as I don't intend to keep anemone in my tank. Thank you all for your kind help and info/advise given.
  22. yes, it's brooklynella indeed. Unfortunately, one of them die already. Bought Octozin from Henry at around 4.30 pm. Added the medication into the tank already. The remaining one is also not looking good, but it does seems to have recovered a little bit. Keeping my finger cross now. In fact I should have acted much earlier and I could have save both of them. Bought it 2 days ago, still wondering if they are already sick in the LFS. Not really sure but will try to call up to confirm. From the time the problem surface till the decease of my percula it took barely more than a day.. so reefers who has clown may want to keep this drug handy. It cost $14 for 21 tablets (1 tablets treat 22.5 litres of water, 3 doses spread one day apart are needed).
