  3. Hi all I am currently using Hel-X filter media that came with my OASE Biomaster filter. I am exploring if I should change to Seachem Matrix filter media instead. Please advise Thanks! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. Hi all Does anyone know if lfs actually coral dip their coral before selling to customers? If there is, able to share the lfs that can safely purchased from Thanks! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. Just measured and it went up from 7 to 8 dkH using their recommended formula. Guess I will stick to it by now. Btw, they stated this for their ingredients exactly on bottle: Contains carbonate, bicarbonate, chloride, and sulfate salts of sodium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, and potassium. Maybe thats why the kH doesn't alter the magnesium and calcium because of the added magnesium and calcium etc Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  6. Hi guys, I am following Seachem instruction and formula to raise 1kH using: Gram = 0.08 x tank vol in litres x 0.357 meq/l According to it, I supposed to premix in freshwater before adding on. For me, I premix from the salt water from my tank because I do not want the freshwater solution to alter the salinity. Will this be ok? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  7. I realised my magfloat doesn't have the word "patented" unlike the rest. Did I got a fake? I got it at lfs at $22 while other shop is selling at $28 This is the long version. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  8. @otaku reefer Coz too many snails are unsightly. In thinking perhaps to get a snail of each specie so they don't breed. For eg, 1 turbo and 1 nassarius, 1 asrea snail etc. Is this good? Btw, does snails affect my scoly and brain that is on the sand? @domvonn Yes got on last time during cycling Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  9. Is your live rocks placed on top the sand or on the bottom of the glass with some egg crate? If you are keeping sand burrowing gobies, shrimps etc and if the live rocks is placed on top the sand, it will create instability of the live rocks. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. Nice! I see tangs in it and usually tangs recommended for bigger tanks. What is your tank dimensions? What kind of filter u using and what other equipments? Like protein skimmer, calcium reactor, sulphur reactor etc? Impressive design! If there is a thin layer of sands would be perfect! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  11. I currently have one turbo snail only. Read that they do help with diatom too but I guess I am understaffed for the turbo? One main reason why I am adding only 1 turbo snail is because i want tk avoid them from laying eggs and breed Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. Any idea how long will diatom go away when the tank is fully cycled? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  13. For myself I dont top any. Because need water test before dosing. I does it through weekly water change Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. Thanks Otaku! My glass thickness is 8mm and I am using the magfloat long version that support up to 10mm. Hope that is alright! Same here i slide to connect the magnet instead of letting it float in water and snap it. The sound is very deafening and threatening if done that way. Will take note to slowly glide through the glass instead of gliding fast Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  15. Hi all My marine tank has been up running for a month or so now. However, I have brown diatom algae issue even though I am using RODI water. Isn't supposed that, there is no silicate and should not have caused the brown diatom algae? It keeps coming back. I am doing 25% weekly water change. Using Royal Nature ION Balanced reef salt. Specs: - Temp between 25 to 26 - just using Royal Nature ION Balanced Reef salt with no extra supplements - kH at about 8 - pH about 8.2 - calcium 400 - magnesium 1320 - RODI water - 60cm x 45cm x 50cm tank - livestock: 2 ocellaris clown, 1 yellow tang, 1 purple firefish, 1 white bellied yellow wrasse, 1 pistol shrimp
  16. Hi all Anyone is using magnetic glass cleaner for your fish tank? Would like to check if this is safe for the silicone lining of fish tank? I have seen people swiping on their glass and they kinda need to use alot of force to move it till the point the tank is like moving and the fish tank definitely moves sway abit. Through such force..Will the silicone eventually lose the grip and cause leakages?
