i use a small glass or a chicken essence bottle and put a little bit of food inside. place the bottle leaning against the rocks so that the crabs can climb in from the top. once the crab is in, it can't get out again because it is too slippery. i've caught a lot of hairy crabs that way. you might have to put a rubber band or two across the entrance to make it narrower so that cleaner shrimps/small fish don't try to go in and steal the food.
all the best with catching those pests

hard work pays off. brilliant tank!
-
A related issue would be whether some types of shrimps can be kept in groups or must be kept singly. I have two boxer shrimps that keep fighting and snapping each others' claws off, so in the end had to separate them, one into the sump the other left in the display tank.

pellagrino is argentinian
oops haha thanks

. He is fast becoming a hate figure around the football world, and before long, Chelsea will earn the same reputation as the most hated club.
Chelsea is playing good football, i just can't stand the manager.
ahahaha justin! you are just waiting for someone to come and overtake Man U / Ferguson as the most hated club/manager in England rite!!!
and Chris, Mourinho didn't buy many spaniards. He brought over some portugese from Porto, but I think he's bought more english and french players. It's Benitez who has brought over a lot of Spaniards to Liverpool (Nunez, Alonso, Garcia, Josemi, Morientes, Pellegrino). Think he should have just bought Barcelona and make them all Liverpool players

If my denitrifying process is working well as wat bro hotlemond says... my nitrates are being exported by my refugium, DSB, denitrator... blah blah blah.... Then isn't it right to say essentially that water top up equates to water change?
The truth behind water change is that the exact composition of sea water (and its effect on the inhabitants of your tank) is not yet completely understood by scientists. Yes, the main issues are nutrient export and replenishment of trace elements, but there are also other chemical wastes produced in very small amounts that are not skimmed out nor broken down/used by bacteria or plant life. Hence a regular partial water change is to remove some of the old water and to dilute it with new clean water.
Don't forget, you are trying to re-create a massive body of water and a gigantic, complex ecosystem within a small little glass box. The equipment and additives we are currently using are poor substitutes and ultimately the water going in circles round and round is getting less and less healthy for tank inhabitants on a daily basis.

well that fella with flying rowas is going to see lots of rowa bits in his tank or sump soon. Good luck trying to clear that out before leaching occurs.

Liverpool needs to find some billionaire so finance it so that it doesn't need to play good football, just buy everyone else's star players. Oops, Chelsea did that already.
I guess with 400 million pounds spent in two years, a 3-2 extra-time win is the least you should be able to get

aiyah. looks like might have to start a nano for my one remaining clam
-
wow somebody not only got the whole script, they got the screenshots all the way to the end!!
-
Lyon crushed their opponents 3-0. I always thought Arsenal made a mistake selling Wiltord to Lyon.
-
haiz maybe that's what happened to mine too
-
i have two clams dead and cleaned out by shrimps! i dunno if the clams died and then got picked off by the shrimps/stray crabs, or got murdered!! worse, i have a sally light foot that i caught eating the mantle of a live clam! sianzzz

Hi ...
i like ur way of talking hehe HL milk that is funny
chocolate flavoured or normal?
-
amazing, Liverpool is the only english club to have won in the champions league this round! but aiyah, they are still 16/1 to lift the trophy haha
-
but not fair, chelsea dun have arjen robben.
hah, this is the first time i've heard anybody say it's "not fair" that a Chelsea player is unavailable for selection. I think it's "not fair" that a club can blow 300 million pounds on players in two years and still be allowed to compete in the same leagues as everyone else.

nothing about that on the news so far leh. fire at which part of plaze sing?
-
I think if it was a mantis your gobies would have far worse injuries than just torn fins...
-
this arsenal thread kena hijacked by liverpool fans!!
-
yeah i also get this sound once in a while... but no livestock has disappeared for over six months... don't think there's a mantis in my tank either.
-
haha liverpool won. sure the return leg djimi traore will backheel 2 own goals and leverkusen will go through
as you can see, i'm a die-hard liverpool supporter ---> used to failure!
-
LR are good for berlin method of nitrate reduction, yes. But LR don't need to go into the sump, they are expensive enough, should use every piece for your display tank
I agree with the reefers' earlier suggestions (and thanks mantis for clarifying my very confusing answer). My 4' sump has filter wool in the first compartment, pump to external skimmer in the second compartment (8" RM beckett cannot fit inside!), third compartment is a DSB and final compartment is all the return pumps for chiller/UV and normal return. By "clean" setup i meant no bioballs or coral chips. The filter wool is for larger particles and other assorted floating junk

notice the deathly silence from ManU and Arsenal fans.
but at least they do not need to use dirty tricks to win like Chelsea. CHEAT-SEA should be their name.
