  1. tangs need a lot of space and will generally be very territorial... purple tang is one of the most aggressive. unless you're pretty attached to him i suggest you get rid of him. i sold mine when it kept chasing just about everyone else in the tank.
  2. win lor... so many people say honda... but gouldian looking for economical car, good for kid at the back, and presentable to boss and clients (read N-O-T-B-E-N-G). ppl keep suggesting "power" and "17 inch rims"... sighzzz
  3. not home at the moment or i would post a pix. been using NTUC nori for months now, tangs can't get enough you must check the ingredients carefully. the ones they bring in are covered with Jap words, but the ingredients are translated into english. you should see "roasted seaweed" or something like that, but without "salt, seasoning" etc etc. Can definitely find non seasoned type if you go to the larger NTUCs or Cold Storage, Giant, etc
  4. just bought a black latio sports a month ago. really in love with it. great pickup (car review magazine said that can beat mazda 3 in a straight sprint) and so far fuel economy is way better than the crappy old sunny becos of a new 1.5L aluminium engine. keyless ignition, ioniser aircon, reclining+movable rear seats, extremely roomy. and the interior looks a bit like the megane, pretty luxurious and well-toned colour. did i mention the alcantara seats?? of cos, the latio sedan looks like a pregnant cow so i got the sports instead, and in black to disguise the hearse-like shape i'm using CVT which is powerful and convenient, but suppose Gouldian will still prefer the manual. tried out many cars before buying, including the lancer and altis. not impressed at all. very cramped compared to the latio. in addition, the altis is not only overpriced, the interior looks like sh*t, especially the wood panelling from thailand. this picture from the nissan website:
  5. does it look like this? if so, it is a sally light foot crab. Generally reef safe, good for clearing algae
  6. erm, isn't this stuff going to harm your plants because of the high sodium content? not sure if you can just dump it on normal garden plants...
  7. Looks like photoshopped. The lighting is too bright and even. No shadows in the corners or beneath the toilet fixtures...
  8. thanks for the replies to my PMs bro. you might want to contact this person http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...ndpost&p=414927
  9. well my three blue tangs, yellow tang and flame angel have been *greedily* feeding like this for six months... have also seen this at a couple of LFS so it definitely works. whether you like the sight of something dangling in the water, that's different
  10. think you need to give some more details like size of chiller or size of tank you are trying to cool.
  11. actually if you are using a plastic clip, don't use the suction cup. tie a fishing line from the clip to something outside the tank and let it dangle in the water. so you can just fish the clip out without immersing your hand in the water.
  12. yeah but what is the difference in cost for the digital service? it might not be worth it if you only occasionally tape one channel and watch another...
  13. errr i think the point is to let the corals grow there, not to have a convenient way to take more out of the ocean!!
  14. eh like that you should just publish a "Idiot's Guide to Reefing". sure get rich one! qazwer - SPS refers to "Small-polyped-stony" corals. The hardest type to keep but with the nicest colours. FOWLR means "Fish-only-with-live-rocks", ie a tank without corals, only fish. go check out AT's reference list for terms you are not familiar with: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...=findpost&p=852
  15. clowns are generally "surface feeders" ie they will try to look for food floating in the water column or at the surface. thus they won't generally peck at food that reaches the sandbed or the rocks. you might want to confine your new clowns in a small betta box and train them to recognise pellets first before releasing them to the main tank.
  16. bro it's page 3. for those interested can call Mr Howard Shaw, Executive Director of the SIngapore Environment Council at 6337-6062 or 96360400. it's basically about producing a small hollow dome-shaped fibreglass structure coated with limestone and anchored to the sea in 5m deep waters.
  17. ok, he's definitely been captured by aliens recently.
  18. wow the day AT gives up reefing... think the rest of us might as well give up too! good thing I have the marine aquarium screensaver on my pc
  19. don't think it improves the water much in terms of what is important for a reef tank. you might as well use direct from the tap. water from both sources will still contain phosphates, chlorine, chloramine and nitrates. you should get a DI or RO/DI unit if you really want better water quality for top-up and water change.
  20. using fowlr dun waste your $$$ on a chiller. no need.
  21. ok i get what shoelevy is saying. basically your "Free-to-air" channels are the unscrambled part of the signal and always available to your TV, although it comes through your SCV cable and decoder box. Thus, you can TUNE your tv to receive those channels on a different channel number from the "normal" viewing that you use for SCV programs. Thus, you can watch say Ch 5 even though the number on your SCV box is, say 60, for HBO. You do this by turning your TV to whichever channel number you set for that free-to-air channel, and not using the normal SCV channel (should be 1 on most TVs). Since the SCV signal is still going into your DVD recorder, theoretically you can record an SCV program at this point even though you are watching channel 5. Haven't tried this, but sounds logical. You definitely cannot record and watch two SCV-only channels though. And I'm not sure how you can record a free-to-air channel while watching SCV channel on your TV. Probably have to fool around with the set and see.
