Got some macroalgae, some kind of fern-like thing attached to a rock to place in my sump to try to reduce nitrates. Kept a small PL light shining on it 24/7. After about two weeks, many of the leaves have suddenly overnight turned brown, one stalk has even turned white, like it is dying. Any idea what's happening and what should I do?

hi folks just wondering if it makes any sense to run two chillers on the same tank if one is not enough? basically, i have a chiller which is not powerful enough to cool the tank down quickly so it is on for many hours a day. my options are either to upgrade to a more expensive chiller or to simply add a second, smaller chiller. Suppose I decide not to upgrade and just run two chillers instead, will that be more expensive in terms of power bill? Any comments anyone?

Please don't waste your time or money. This shop is called Atlantis and I have had the misfortune of buying a tank from them when I knew nothing about reefing. The salesperson is all hot air and bullsh*t about his "years of reefkeeping" and "special bacteria". All you get is an super-expensive cabinet with a simple tank, internal overflow, filter wool, coral chip chamber and lousy pump. Do not be taken in by his sales jargon. I already scrapped the tank I got from him. My friend didn't, six months down the road *all* his fish are dead and even after 90% water change the new fish don't survive more than a month.

yah i have a friend whose home is almost entirely furnished from this second-hand dealer. some amazing looking stuff that hotels throw out!! as for rollers for cupboards etc, i suggest get those doors that hang down, with rollers on the top only. Rollers at the bottom tend to collect dust after a while and become really hard to move, and squeak really badly too. you might want to avoid getting the squirt-squirt thing considering your budget and the fact that it takes up extra space in the toilet.
