  4. tell you sth about green mushroom... once i bought LR from this reefer, there was a green mushroom on one of the rocks. so it was out of water for about an hr which was the time i took to get home. i soaked the rocks in fresh water (sth which i do to rid pests, although some don't recommend), put the rock into tank and went through cycling process...after that, no lights for a month since installing other things and light hasn't arrived mushroom was bleached so bad i thought it was dead. but no...recently colour started coming back and its grown bigger....now that's TOUGH for you!
  5. actually, i'm not using glove, but i would like to use because rocks can be so sharp also, when dealing with corals, the i think mucus on them is so SMELLY. but the thuoght of the price turns me alittle off...
  6. so how about my question on water changing regimes? anyone got advice on what i input in the previous post? don't tell me change 10% everyweek hor...
  7. no worries weishun, great input there i personally dose additive because of like what you said, no time to change water, and i think many out there with big tanks face the same problem? (just a guess here) trouble with my changing routine is i change 10% every month...meaning 4pails at the end of the month...that takes up about an hour or so of my time and not to mention a gd scolding from mum from all the water on the floor but since so many advice on water changing, i was thinking how about changing a pail every week? since at the end of 4 weeks, the same amt (4pails will be changed) what would be your advice on this guys?

  18. robin, i absolutely agree with a changing water regime...trouble for me is tank is so big! its not so much the cost of water or salt incurred but rather the manual labour and time needed to change water...1+ hr just for 10% scarab bro, your tank undoubtedly one of the best around...your discipline for water changes is awesome ... do you have any advice for reefers with big tanks with regards to the manual work and time involved in water changing?

  21. hi guys it just so happens that i was lucky enough to meet 2 senior reefers while at lfs today and both of them mentioned to me about a brand called marc weiss 1 told me about the trace element the other told me about this thing called BLACK VIT of particular interest to me is black vit, which according to him and another friend of mine, makes corals open so big you'd never believe how big they can get until you see it. i'm very interested in trying out black vit but trouble is i haven't even seen this brand before the purpose of this thread is to find out how many people here actually use marc weiss products, where can i find this brand, inparticular black vit, and why isn't it commonly found it would be great if i could hear some inputs from black vit users too hope to hear some info from fellow reefers here cheers!
  22. hi bro i've looked at my kent marine trace and it doesn't say containing iodine...perhaps i missed it but i myself dose TM procoral iodine and i SWEAR by the results it has on my mushrooms!...colour is getting more and more intense! i swear man
