  2. hi guys, i've been using rowaphos inside resun FR 1000ml model i was adviced by the reefer i got this fr from to tune it such that the water causes the surface of the rowaphos to only dance but recently i came across a thread where a reefer suggests otherwise, i think he has the rowaphos flying all around in his FR so i'd like to know from you guys which method should be preferred and why? thanks!
  3. an article for you to read on the effects of low Mg on Ca and kh in reef tanks http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/oct2003/chem.htm relevant read is in one of the last section as to y kh drops, because HCO3 and CO3 ions which is wat kh measures are consumed when corals build skeletons and when acidic materials are introduced into the system.

  11. oh yeah sorry! made a mistake i did my own calculations with the recommended dose, its actually one 3ml(not 5ml) teaspoon will raise 1dkh for 100L been dosing like that ever since i started with the hobby so its tested and proven and safe weileong...u also mistake...the instruction is half a level teaspoon (5ml) will raise the kh by 0.7 dkh, not 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon will raise dkh of 150L by 1.4
  12. not sure on this i just dose TM lugol because everyone else is doing it i dose once or twice weekly still waiting for iodine test kit so that i know if this is overdose or underdose
  13. i agree i had low Mg problems a mth ago then the kh would drop to 6 from 10 in a matter of 6days btw, i'm using seachem reef builder the powder form to boost and maintain my kh it works very well and i like the fact that they tell you one teaspoon raises kh of 150L by 1 this is important as you can manage and control the amt of kh you wanna add i would highly recommend this i've given up on those liquid forms that don't tell you how much kh u are adding....
  14. same here a guru friend of mine told me in his few yrs of experience playing with temperature, he noticed corals open nicest with temp of between 27-29 aim for that
  15. sorry i meant the uncle said cleaner wrasse will die after eating ich is this true?
  16. hm...when u put it that way, most people will know which shop you refering to i heard this from uncle "cleaner shrimp if you buy to eat ich ah...will die cos the ich will spread in its stomach and kill it from the inside" i'm not sure if this is true but i feel its false...can someone verify please?
  17. i understand that lobo brain prata plate bubble and elegance require feeding of some sort just like to find out how often you guys feed? (issit even ok to not feed them?) and with what? (is coral food alone enough?) thank you!
  18. oh thanks for your contribution of your observations i pmed henry on this and he said the same things as you this is what he said "That's precisely why the shrimp pick on the clam. The clam already dying, emiting an odour that attracting the shrimp's scavenging instinct. The clam may look normal to us, its just that the infection have not reach the phase of observable decline. The shrimp sense it earlier. Next time, when you see the shrimp constant picking on the clam, lift up the calm and sniff at it. That will give u the clue. " hope this helps
  19. oh no bro, i wasn't targeting anything at you i was simply saying tt what they're doing is so completely wrong i'm sorry if i made you look bad never really intended it doesn't matter if its their rice bowl or what...jus plain wrong anyway, i do believe in conservationist groups imagine if there weren't such groups, we'd have fashion stylers use animal fur everywhere its because of such groups so those animals don't appear on fashion stages anymore and they don't become a fashion trend don't you agree? infact, everytime some model appears with fur on stage, it almost always draws criticism of some sort from animal lovers and conservationist groups. let's just hope they work fast enough to save these creatures
  20. whatever the cause and why ever they are doing it its still very wrong and inhumane GOD!!!....help us
  21. actually, just a question how can u tell its the clam gonna die so cleaner eat it and not the other way around where its the cleaner that kills the clam?

  23. relax bro alot of tuition teachers nowadays are jc students or uni students trying to make extra money our society isn't exactly cheap to live in i don't think this teacher is that bad because she's been teaching for years right? maybe its a long time since someone asked her something about tia hao...perhaps you can give her some more time to prove herself
  24. me too...the image of the creature's tears and the way he lifted his head to look at his own body again breaks my heart and still runs through my head
  25. recently my clam also suffered the same fate as yours the only difference is mine was doing well for a mth before sth this unfortunate happened. what's puzzling is my water parameters are nothing less than perfect i sourced around different websites and forums to find out the cause and there were many different explanations from www.clamdirect.com i got the info as my cleaner shrimp nibbling on the clam stressing it and causing it to die from wetwebmedia, the author told another reefer with the same problem in a faq session that clams are known to die suddenly without a reason henry from ml told me that it could very well be a viral attack for me all 3 are very possible explanations...definitely need to read up more and possibly ask more people before i can conclude what was the cause of the death of the clam
