  5. yupz so sorry about that statement when i came back to edit that post minutes after i posted it, already can't edit so sorry about the tone used in any case, went checking around a few coral books, still can't find red sun, only orange and black... very excited to know if the red is real colour
  6. both my clams also like that...gd and fine then suddenly retract and died off within 24hrs...water parameters were all ok mine were croceas...very sad and my condolensces to u i've asked around for advice and i can only bring myself to beleive that its clam disease and not predation because all reef safe creatures, didn't spot any crabs, mantis or pyramid snails perhaps yours was like that too.... cheers and hope future will be better
  7. no worries here bro yiling, i would also like to know if its dyed because if its not, well chiong ah! but if it is, then we must raise awareness before unwary reefers get disappointed yet again and again do keep us posted brother as for my friend being frustrated, well, it wasn't my friend, the sun was in the main tank of reborn...if its still there might wanna check out the sun losing its red colour
  8. sealife sell hard corals?!! chrisyew:you wanna pay that much for sth that will fade and turn orange with time?
  9. hi tigger...do you know if its dyed red?
  10. called but no one picked up can u advice on their operating hours? and thanks for sharing
  11. oh perhaps there are natural yellow cup corals but rare so some shops dye it to increase sales? and yours happens to be natural? just a theory
  12. bro, i think he's talking about the coral that looks like montipora?
  13. WA! is that your collection bro? orange and yellow sun?
  14. hey DA, did you take yiling's sun or reborn's sun photos? xenith...unfortunately i don't think there's anyway to tell if a coral is dyed unless the coral starts losing its dye or unless you educate yourself about what colours are unnatural for what species...that's why this thread i think is very useful to help inform reefers of what colours to be aware of....i was able to tell the red sun in reborn's tank is dyed because the colour started fading, its turning orange wa rav65, got red natural coloured sun ah...my goodness...would love to see it, do you have the pics? i can't seem to find red sun coral pics on google
  15. i 2nd diabolus so what's up?
  16. the one in the display definitely is you will know when you see it but DA will keep me informed of yiling's specimen. if its still doing fine then we'll strike red sun off this list
  17. ok...agree to retract if yiling's doing fine do keep me informed when did he buy it?
  18. hi do you mean islands off the eatern coast of the western malaysian peninsula? ok now that you mentioned it, the boat with the girls on it does look alittle "cut and pasted" onto the background and take a look at the 5th pic, the manta ray's tail is straight...but that of its shadow is curved...photoshoped?... oh well...glad such places do exist
  19. dyed corals are very attractive and are available in shops but i am not for this trade as these corals usually do not last long in the aquariums due to the dying process and many are fooled into thinking that they're paying for a coral that is actually that colour...only to be disappointed a few months later when the dye starts coming off so lets all help each other by compiling a list of dyed corals to raise awareness and lets avoid this trade 1)yellow jewel 2)red suncoral
  20. i also saw the red one, but let's face it, sun corals only got orange and black as for the red one you saw sis, i went down with seareefer last fri and the red one in the display tank's colour is coming off...its turning orange, its Dyed so lets face it, let's not buy such specimens and fuel the dying trade...a trade which makes lots of corals suffer
  21. i quote from aquarium corals "scolymia seem to expand most in lower currents and moderate lights and are tolerant of lower light levels than most corals" your lights seem fine so i suggest you check water flow in any case, please measure your water parameters
  22. actually shannon lucio currently on OC2 is also very sweet but too bad shes' not photogenic...photos of her on the net aren't very pretty here's a screen shot of her on the most recent episode sweet isn't she?
