allo rav65, i read from "aquarium corals" that these fungia prefer low to medium current and bright lights. it also mentions that moderate illumination may not be able to support these bottom dwelling corals. perhaps your light was the reason for y you have little luck? just a suggestion
-
wa...i think you're too modest...you're really good with those shots you're already at interstellar objects and i'm still struggling with the moon faintz... TAKAHASHI and ccd cam and after buying those 2 you still got money left for deltec skimmer and a D70 think your pay check 6 zeros... are you still in the hobby?

yo hotlemond, there's actually a local forum much like src for the local astronomy scene and there are many websites to read up about the galaxy but mostly, a person ends reading with more question marks cos those scientists can really be DAMN cheem! you're not wrong on the part where our galaxy is one of billions of galaxy. it all began with big bang, but how it ends is still a debate because of lack of evidence either big crunch, expanding universe through infinite time into infinite space or simply a universe that stops expanding at remains at a fixed size anyway, that wheelchair guru you're talking about is stephen hawking! wa weileong, judging by those shots, you got some background in astronomy eh? can ask u sth?...a typical 180s exposure should have left star trails but clearly yours didn't, you were using somekinda tracking device on the mount right?

Melvyn, i did experience sth similar to yours my story goes like this :i bought a sick yellow tang...didn't realise it was down with ich at the shop because the lighting at the shop was poor and the tank was pretty tall for me to see the fish closely. after i brought it home, i decided to put it in a betta box and put the box in my sump to monitor its progress as i fed it garlic soaked food, it didn't get better even after 2 days. then i came across a forum with ang moh's saying that 6line can be used as a cleaner fish and since the ich wasn't getting better and was pretty bad, i decided to go to the lfs where we first met to buy one, and put it in the same betta box as the yellow tang...after 1 night, the tang was completely recovered i must clarify that i didn't see the 6line cleaning the tang because i am sleeping at night but given the extent of the ich on the tang and how fast it recovered, i do believe tat it was the 6line that cleaned up the ich

hey bro what additives did u add to get your coral's colours up?

i did a test on my tap water supply with salifert no3 and it reads sth between 5-10ppm. i used to do water changes, at first, it did help with the no3 which fell to 30ppm, but the moment i skip once or twice water change....the no3 shoots bak up to 50ppm after awhile, i decided to curb with the problem by reducing feeding, keeping less fishes or fishes that require less food and getting a better skimmer then now the no3 is controlled at 30ppm.... perhaps u could look into feeding less? and i would really suggest using salifert and not tetra...
-
just curious, how much did u pay for that specimen

aww yeah the show was really good. i really love the part where they pick up the signal from the french woman that's been playing 16yrs and what a complex bunch of people they have on board the plane! btw, i'm reaaaaaaaally curious to know what those huge creatures/monsters are. anyone has read up from somewhere on what they are?

bleach coral means coral losing colours because its dumping its zooxanthallae general causes: 1)wrong lighting - too much or too little 2)warm water - higher than 29 3)lousy water parameter. some causes i experienced: 4)forget to feed coral for long period of time lots of info on corals bleaching not just in SRC but other forums and in websites that deal with conservation of coral reefs

i speak this only from my experience 1)i find them hardy 2)i own 3, 2 introduced together (which later paired off since they kinda follow each other everywhere and sleep together) 3)i find that they are agressive to 3rd addition whenever it got too close...but after the 3rd learnt to stay away, all is peaceful

i happen to immerse a small liferock (which i took out from my main tank) in very hot tap water today inorder to get rid of a pest. but that's besides the pt. what i found interesting was that this liferock (NOT coralline encrusted), turned from white to green(like as if it was covered with green algae), which is not observed when i previously immersed it in room temperature tap water. also, i found that only the side which faced up while it was in my main tank turned green...the other side which rests on the sand bed was completely unaffected just wondering if any one knows the science behind this?
