if i'm not mistaken they recently brought the 15kk in you can check them out in their website blv 20kk is IMO VERY blue...so not surprising you don't run actinics with them..think the tank will look so blue that its ugly if u add in more actinics the blueness is kinda the reason why my photo pics in my tank thread look as though they were taken with only actinics you wan me to share how 15kk look ah?....wa...pressurising me to take the 15kk eh but i'm still thinking about which to get as still reading and waiting for more responses here so don't get your hopes too high aniwae, just to share, not sure if this has been mentioned here before http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...light=change+mh a thread in RC about the issue of replacing bulbs yearly. i've only read the first 3 pages and apparantly most of them inside seem to think mh can be used much longer than a yr....a few claiming use for up to 2yrs

i am indeed looking at XM 10kk bulbs but i'm also not ruling out XM 15kk bulbs as offered by reedepot but i'm not so sure on the pros and cons of either except that 10kk has better PAR but i fret about the visual appeal since i myself do not use actinic supplements and don't plan on using them either thanks for your input on oning for shorter time then increasing them. how about this thing about the burn-in time of 100hrs for mh bulbs? what changes can i expect to see once the 100hrs burn in time is reached? thanks

ever since i started my reef tank in nov last yr, i haven't changed my bulb i bought both bulbs 2nd hand at 3mths old so that makes them about 10mths old now. both bulbs are BLV 20kk 250W SE all was fine until it recently, this 2 weeks i notice all my mushrooms stretch out alot for light. does the way my mushrooms are reacting signify a need to change the bulbs? when changing to new bulbs, what steps can i take to reduce shock on corals?

its a venturi so it sucks air via bernoulli meaning u dun need to attach to air pump. just make sure tat the mouth of the tubing is exposed to air so that the venturi can take in air into the skimmer

of course po4 remover safe la...loads of people use it in FR(fluidised reactors) how long it lasts depends on: 1)how much you put in the FR, obviously the more you put the longer it'll last 2)how much po4 is introduced into your tank from feeding etc etc and how well its removed by skimmer etc etc...the more po4 left behind, the faster it exhausts 250ml of rowa can last me 3mths if u manage to remove po4, most of your algae problems you've already won. most people will tell you when they haf algae problems, once po4 is controlled, then they no longer face it. so you only worry about nitrates when they still give you problems after u settle your po4

why not u just try running the macro skimmer for a few days and monitor temperature then decide what to do. scarlee it turns out your water can remain cool then all is good

i guess the whole reason for that is if they let u see the creature...its not so scary anymore and there's not much of a reason to watch and then ratings will drop also, i think the producers can't think of a scary enough creature to show the audience...so easiest way is don't show lor! anyway...show's great and i'm loving it!

chocolate chip starfishes are not reef safe, they will eat certain corals and are observed to eat other starfishes present in the aquarium as well. i believe you have alot to read up on

Jenson, ways to rid algae: 1)employ po4 remover in a FR(eg aquaphos or rowaphos) 2)reduce photo period if yours is too long 3)increase circulation in tank Balibrain: i think most of us have to scrub some algae which grows on the glass either dayly or weekly so i think yours isn't much of a concern. If you're not using po4 remover, i think employing some will help reduce the speed at which they build up on the glass as to no3 control Jenson: 1)good skimmer is important 2)control your bioload and feeding of fishes cheers
