  2. hi guys. recently i bought a korallin C1501 along with american pinpt ph monitor. Ca R is filled with ARM media. as i understand from reading, ph of effluent should be 6.5-7.0. but as i tuned over the past 3 days, i can't seem to get to that ph without excess co2 building up in the reactor. here's what i've tried (all measurements taken at least 1 hr after tuning was done) DRIP/min, bubbles/min, resultant ph 36 , 10 , 7.5 (not sure if excess co2 built up because never noticed) 36 , 15 , 7.5 (not sure if excess co2 built up because never noticed) 36 , 20 , 7.35 (excess co2 built up obvious) 28 , 12 , 7.3 (excess co2 built up obvious) in order to lower the ph, i have to slow my drip rate and increase co2 count right? but as seen, doing so results in excess co2 building up. so i'm puzzled as to how i am supposed to lower ph when increasing bubble count or lowering drip rate already results in excess co2 building up and wasted. hope to get some advice on this. thanks
  3. there's only one cable that leads to your house and into the cable box. the cable connection is: scv box ->dvd recorder -> tv the cable carries both signal X and Y. however, signal X requires a decoder found in the scv cable box to decode and display properly on the tv screen. without the decoder, the signal is simply scrambled and hence, the tv inbuilt tuner cannot tune to it. that's why the cable must go into the cable box first, followed by the recorder then to the tv. how to watch tv with recorder recording another channel? simple, use the inbuilt tuner in the tv so search for signals Y and program the channels available into the tv memory...ch5,8,central,suria,tv1,2 and the decoded signal from the scv cable box. let's say you set the tv ch1 for the decoded signal from scv, and 2 for channel U. usually what you do is tv is just on channel 1 and you use the scv cable remote to channel surf right? now lets say you wanna record "poison ivy - the new seduction" on HBO but you wanna watch jie dui superstar on channel U. what you then do is set the scv cable to channel 60 and set the recorder to record, and you switch the TV CHANNEL to channel 2. if you've understood what i've said up to this pt, youl'l realise you cAN"T record 2 different scrambled scv channels...meaning cannot record star movies and hbo at the same time. i regard signal X & Y not because they come from different sources, in fact they coem from the same source, but because one is scrambled while the other is not.
  4. i've got a eheim cannister filter classic 2217 for sale. it was used originally for only a mth for my fowlr but after i changed to sump, it was kept in the store it was bought at about aug/sept last yr so should still be under warranty comes with basic hoses, 5 set's of blue sponge and rainbar and 2sets of taps which i bought for it. the cannister will go along with the taps for sale. will accept pm with price from those sincerely interested. priority will be given to those who can collect at my place at boon keng mrt PLS DO NOT pm me and ask me:"how much you looking for bro?" just pm and offer me..all pm's will receive a reply for those curious, complete new set same as that i listed should cost around $210/-
  5. this is a little tricky. In my case, my recorder can be set to search for the signals from the basic tv channels(ch5, 8 etc etc) and that from the scv box. Let's call the signal from the scv cable box signal X and those from the basic tv channel signal Y. (pls note that signal Y is the direct signal from the input cable from the tv station and NOT the ch5 or 8 that comes from the scv cable box.) the recorder can be set to record signal X OR Y. so if you want record 1 channel and view another, it can be done by either: setting the recorder to record X while surfing Y BY CHANGING TV CHANNEL OR setting the recorder to record Y while surfing by changing the scv channel. i hope i'm not being confusing here. what i'm saying is essentially similar to what bwilly and experiment626 have said. i think you'll better understand what i'm saying after you start using it.
  6. i use phillips one some features i like include direct recording from camcorder to dvd. hard disk if i'm not mistaken is 80GB and is capable of up to 120hrs of recording...but i haven't verified that...no time to go and test. the moment you on the recorder, the hdd records what ever channel you are viewing...so that means if u pick up a call and miss like 5mins, u can actually rewind 5mins to view wat you missed and continue watching while the recording is 5mins ahead of where you are but this feature only max of 30mins....meaning you can't rewind for more than 30mins unless u set the machine to start recording you can even choose to press the pause button to pause the show to pick up the call...the image will freeze while the hdd starts recording the rest of the show...then when you press play again, it plays from where you stopped while continuing recording....but again...the memory set for this function is only 30mins so yes, the hdd has 2 areas of memory...one for the 30mins real time recording and the other 120hrs since its digital, you can even edit a show you've recorded to exclude all advertisements then burn into dvd so when that when you rewatch...its non interrupted the only disadvantage i dun like is if you're using scv, and if you set timer to record, the timer has to be set for the scv cable box as well. meaning the recorder will simply record whatever channel is displayed on the scv cable box...so you have to make sure the scv cable box is set to the right channel i bought mine at $999/-
  7. get a beckett recently sotongball selling dual beckett new for solid price. you can check that out

  9. run rowa from day one i read before that if po4 is allowed to build up in your tank, it will bond to your lr and in the future, they will leech giving you a problem in the future. and oh...get a beckett...NO regrets...even if you upgrade to 5,6,7 footer, beckett still can extend extend until reach the sky and still can extend....so don't have to sell and buy a completely new one i also agree with the others that you should ditch the ceramic rings and coral chip...your lr and sand bed will have plenty of space for bacteria to colonise sump empty is ok IMO...and its very easy to maintain too : when its time to siphon of dirt...you don't have anything to block your hose...or when its time to change wool, you won't disturb other things and stir up dirt also, u have great flexibility in putting pumps (for FR or UV or Ca R or chiller) in or other in sump equipment just my 2 cents may i know what return pump are you using?

  14. haha...reminisce about the times with my cleaner.... that's EXACTLY the reason why i sold both my cleaner and sold whatever fish that is daring and strong enough to steal food away from the prata and is also the same reason i tell my friends don't buy shrimps
  15. dear all, for quite some time i've noticed that when i feed brine or mysis to my fishes, stray individual pieces of brine or mysis will stick on the yumas surface when drifting too close my thoughts are that it wouldn't make sense for a coral to generate and maintain a sticky surface if it wasn't interested in capturing food. so today, i decided to feed my yuma while keeping my hand in to keep the fishes from stealing the food and sure enough, the yuma consumed the food. however, when i tried this on my discosoma, i found that they lacked the sticky surface and food would just be swept away by the current. i also tried feeding my ricordeas but accidentally shocked them then they all closed up and so i don't know if they are the same as disco or my yuma in terms of feeding habits so the purpose of this thread is just to confirm with others who have experience on: 1) does your yuma accept feeding? 2)does your discosoma accept feeding? 3)does your florida accept feeding? appreaciate all inputs. thank you
