don't waste your reef builder and magnesium powder just keep changing water until the parameters are good, its fast and cheap unless your tank is big la and its bad for your back

hangon filter reserved by kean upz!!!

wa bro u never feed your lps ah? i always do...but i must say that feeding does improve the expansion of the coral. esp so for my cyarina, open brain and long tentacle plate. less so for lobo and short tentacle plates

i vote for seachem reef buffer and reef carbonate the POWDER form been using them ever since i started the hobby and never had an issue with it if u're not sure with the calculations i can help u for the PH powder: 3g/100L will boost your PH by 0.09 and kh by 1.26dkh for powder carbonate: 3g/100L will boost kh by 1dkh my two cents for ya!

i think got someone tell me can take only after a few hours...1 hour is too short a time considering the slow drip rate. sooo....give it a few more hours to clear up
-
tell u wat u first try 10counts per min of bubbles then measure your effluent ph u know what's the value supposed to be right? ph too low u decrease your bubble count ph too high u increase the bubble count
-
hmmm did u bleed the CR carefully while it was filling up with water? oh wait...u haf 60bubbles per min and 40 drops/min?? try tuning down the bubble count the general rule is drip rate should be faster than bubble rate i think u haf too much co2 causing a slight melt down and the excess co2 is i beleive the bubbles u see last time i ran 1 before i sold mine was 1 per 5secs? my other friend runs it at 1 per 3sec it hink 1 per sec is quite fast leh

did u wash the media before putting into CaR? i remember the instructions for rowa says to wash it first and if you do...you'll know why very dirty
-
haha mine only goes berserk when i feed henry's food and u're right about gunk collecting within next few hours....its amazing when i first saw it

these are my 2 cents 1 or 2oclock is generally correct. u shouldn't turn on full air intake reason is simple : u let too much air in and the bubble density saturates. then the bubbles start to collide alot and combine to form bigger bubbles. a big bubbles has less surface area than 3 smaller bubbles of the same volume. so by letting too much air in you haf compromised on skimmer effeciency. i believe arcanehacker can open full because he used long air tubing as silencer...that generates alot of resistance to air flow so he has to open full to make up for air line resistance. actually, you shouldn't be too obssessed with how much gunk is collected. a more accurate gauge is to measure your water parameter and seeing that your no3 and po4 are dropping and under control. i dun get much skimmate from my beckett but it controls my parameters well and its good too...dun haf to waste too much salt water u wanna bring no3 down use wet skimmate...after its down just tune to dry to save on salt water so dun gauge by amt of skimmater collected...gauge by measuring water parameter...oh and btw, my waste collector also always empty but i have one to prevent flooding...and HENG i got the waste collecter...cos already 2 times the beckett went berserk...heng ah! anyway, use the water gate valve to tune the water level such that the cotton foam is at the opening of the neck leading to the collection cup, like its about to overflow...that should be ok

hey bro i'm using 4ft beckett. md55 will do the job just fine -
after 1.5yrs in src dealing with nice people, i think i've finally met one that isn't credible and i wanna warn the rest of you guys BAckground a while ago, i was seraching for the SCWD and made a WTB posting in the pasar malam this guy simply smsed me saying he had one for sale like new. he even offered to send to my place. seemed like a nice guy when we dealed. i had my exams over the coming week and finally had time to redo alot of the pipings yesterday. even had to spend alot of time driving ard finding the piping parts for my scwd. then guess what...when i fired the thing up, it leaked! i called the guy up and he said he didnt' know about it(that's what everyone would say la ) so i asked him what to do. he agreed to refund me my money after i sms him my bank acct number. i called at sat 5pm he say will do by 7pm, cos he needs time to walk to the atm. well as everyone can expect i still haven't got bak the money. unfortunately this guy isn't registered with src but rather surfs around as a guest so here's it: instead of giving you 2hrs, i'm giving u up to monday, 2 full days to walk to the atm. if i still dun receive any news or cooperation from you, i shall be forced to disclose your number, address for the benefit of others. i hope you guys dun see this as a flame thread becos it isn't. there are too many such people around and all we can hope for is to alert one another to such people and avoid them...and this is my part for the club. sorry if i sounded harsh to anyone but its just frustration considering i spent ALOT of time searching for the parts i needed, redid my pipings, only to realised that the fault laid with the item that was sold to me

i learnt from a guru(dun ask who) who builds his own skimmers and has extensive knowledge he told me wet can help pull out no3. after no3 is down to minimum, tune to dry to save on salt water and when i went home to practise what he said, sure enough that's what i observed. other than that i just tune wet so that the cup isn't that dirty...lol
