i use 2 canisters 1 eheim 2217 and 1 2026 eheim 2217 has nothing but #10 coral chips as first layer...this takes up about 2/3 of the space. used to break up shit and breed bacteria. next is wool. followed by poly filter together with carbon. i make it a pt to put chem filters after wool so that theyt don't get dirty and their surf doesn't get coated with dirt. be sure to put the coral chips or any other bacteria breeders in a permeable bag. reason being bacteria forms a sticky web around the coral chips. if u don't put in a bag and pour out the chips when u clean, u destroy the web and they die. 2026 i put #10 sand, #10 coral chips and wool. no chem filter.i keep both running to breed bact...works fine. use 2 cause when one is washed and most bact dies, the other still has bact to support. yupz...that's my 2 cents worth

hi people, i bought garlic guard from seachem. i just haf one question about the instructions. it says soak food and refrigerate. when it says refrigerate....does it mean in the freezer compartment?

hi...i heard the cleaner wrasse eats parasites on other fishes. wen i asked the LFS uncle about it....he said that's correct but if it eats white spot parasites, it'll die cos the parasite will kill it from the inside. can anyone verify this? and ah...how much did u guys see this fish selling for? PS:i understand that it is endangered....i'm only asking these questions because i already bought it before i saw this post. i swear if i had seen this thread first i wouldn't have bought it. i apologise to all and mother nature...i'm sorry

hello....just stumbled across your thread. my tank also same as yours....1+ week cycling only. i cycle with fiji LR and damsels that liverock slimy white thing you came across...i did too! they're like this white grey stuff and very very slimy....i just brush them off with tooth brush....but some hard to reach ones will be left....not to worry because when i put the LR in, they start to fall off. for me when i get the LR, i try to get rid of anything that "looks" feels or smells hostile....like that slimy thing i just mentioned and some ugly looking sponges. my LR is doing quite fine actually...so u might wanna try what i just said also, i've found lots of tube worms baby ones, growing on the liverock....how cool is that! can sell somemore!!! muahahaha

oh man thiss is so cool! i spotted ALOT of baby tubeworms growing on the liverock i bought. haha...maybe can feed them then sell!

hm....spray hard with water meaning tap water or salt water? will dipping in fresh water kill the precious bacteria and coralline algae?

eh how do i train my gobi to feed on brine shrimp? and also, paiseh but i can't possibly everydae go get live ones. i only have frozen ones....are these ok for the goby?

when you say small, how small are we talking?

the worm looks like an OVERSIZED tubifex worm i fed it to the fishes already haha oh, i've got a mandarin goby too and i know it gets food from the live rocks so does this change anything?

but if i leave the worms in? will it harm me aquarium? what about the sponges?

hi peeps, i have some fiji live rock in my tank and i intend to get more. the trouble is before i put into the tank, i see ALOT of organisms living on it and henceforth the name is live rock. the trouble is i heard some of the liveforms are undesirable? like i caught a small crab in the live rock, should i put it in? and there's some sponge on the live rock too and some tubeworm looking thing but is very very short. something like a mushroom without its umbrella. and the other time i broke a small piece off and a WORM fell out!....yucks!!! can anyone please tell me if all these organisms are "approved" and ok to put into the tank or should i remove them?????

ya i went today lfs ah...sorry ah but i was paying attention to the supplements they sell but i did see mandarin goby, blue tang, true clown, hermit, dalmation looking fish, most of the kinds of damsels. that's all i remember sorry oh ya, an alternative way to get to the place is take 86 but from seng kang mrt. you get off i think 2 stops after seletar camp. i bought a mandarin goby but i forgot to ask what it eats! i usually ask but this time i forgot. think its gonna starve.

my tank only 2weeks old got 2 blue, 1 domino, 2 fourstriped,1 yellow tail and 1 chromis damsel and 1 madarin goby thanks peeps will get garlic gaurd
