Btw you have any recommended UV sys for 250litre tank?
-
Thanks bro. Maybe too low of nitrates which can't compete with the bac we're dosing resulting in this slime.
-
Hi bro yours due to nopox or biopallets?
-
I've not dose anything so far. Uv doesn't work on this issue. I've read many reefers experience this. UV doesn't help with the slime. Only clear up the water. So. I'm not sure what's the underlying problem

It's the same exact slime where reefers overdose their nopox. My nitrates are now at 2ppm (salifert). Should I feed more to increase the nitrates and be hopeful that the bac will compete with the white slime bac now? Water changes doesnt help with the slime and cloudy water. Maybe due to bacteria which multiplies at a fast rate. I just did a major 50 to 60 percent WC 2 days ago. Still no. Improvement. I've stop dosing Dr Tim waste away as the product aid to lower nitrate and phosphate.

8ve not dosed bio s for quite some time now. My tank is done cycling and currently has a fire shrimp in it. The slime multiply fast and clog up my sock in a day or two. I've read that Probiotic salt are used for matured sps dominant tanks. I guess I've to change the salt. Tha ks for the input mate! Much appreciated

Hm.. Should I change the salt to the regular reef salt instead?
-
Currently not dosing anything. I'm using AF priobiotic salt and bio s after water change. White slime getting worse tho. Just did a 50% wc. And started using Dr Tim waste away

I have total of 4kg. One sealed brand new 2kg and one open and dropped in the sump to try but can't fit in my small sump. Letting oth go at $90

Started cycling since 15 april White film started to grow on glass and have scraped it off. After a few days it's started taking over the tank and sump. Causing my socks to. Clogged up in a day. Taking over all the rocks. Skimmer able to pick up some as the slime are mostly suspended on the surface in the sump. I've not done any water changes yet since the cycle of the aquarium. Will be doing it soon. Parameters are at 0,0 25. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate respectively. I'll test for phosphate in awhile. Btw I went thru bac bloom recently. But did not think it'll be this bad now

I'm running a nyos 120. I know many reefers run a nyos. I'm having alot of vibration noise from the skimmer. Not the rattling from the collection cup but from the skimmer itself Ran it for over a week now. Skimmer yet to break in? 3 days ago just dismantled and reassemble the skimmer. No loose parts even from the acrylic clamps at the motor block. Any suggestions guys? Or I got a faulty unit?

Oh removed he black sticker behind the glass tank. Saw. Some. Gorgeous tank on reef2reef, where the US reefers removed the background. Have to. Upkeep with husbandry andmaintainence tho.

Cycling with Dr Tim ammonium chloride

Thanks for the reply. So. Do I dose ammonia or bio s to the system? Or should I just let it run its course till nitrite is zero then I dose a few drops of ammonia to feed the bacteria? -

Tank is looking better now. Slight cloudiness still. Algae bloom is clearing UK after running the skimmer for 3 days. Out of curiosity I bought a nitrite test kit. Have tested twice in 3 days period. Nitrite maintained at 0.25ppm whereas nitrates have doubled the amount from 50 to 100ppm. I know that the nitrification process is ongoing and should avoid any water changes till the cycle is over, but with such high nitrates will it stall the cycle? Or should I dose the bio s to increase the bacteria strain in the system for 2 to 3 days. I'm using maxspect nano blocks and siporax as my bio medias. Your inputs are much appreciated! -
Yes bro. Been 3 weeks. Tank been cloudy for a week now. Should be algae bloom. Just started running the skimmer
-
You can read it both ways. Perpendicular to the chart have to divide the reading by 10. From the top you can take as it is. Yes yes. Cycle started. I'm on the same boat as you. Nitrates just shy 50ppm.
-
Hi bro I believed that the reading for your nitrates is about 10ppm.if you're comparing the charts that way it should be 100 divided by 10 which gives you 10ppm. Assuming by the chart you're using salifert Theres instruction in the leaflet. I compared the same way to yours initially but after reading the leaflet it's much more clearer. For me I'll take the reading from bird's eye view.

I'm. Assuming my ammonia is 0 referencing to the ammonia chart and my nitrates are right below 50ppm, that my tank is now Fully cycled What's bothering me is my tank is cloudy af. FYI,been cloudy for more than a week. I'm not certain if I should dose a few drops Of ammonia to feed the bac or to let the bac bloom clear off. Or should I run thr skimmer hoping For the best -

No diatoms or algae. Only white film on glass when I'm cleaning it. I haven't run any skimmer chiller or mechanical filtration. Yes yes I won't feed those algae with those lights. Hahaha.
