Yes, I agree if you have a really high heat load, you will need the cooling power of artica chillers. Atman chiller should be able to chill up to 200g with 500watts MH + 130watts pump (my current setup). Most of us should have heat load below or same as mine except for SPS reefers. The reason why I raised this matter is because most of the reefers look at HP ratings and not the wattage. It might give others false feeling on electrical consumption. E.g 1/2HP artica can chill much better than 1/2HP atman, this will lead to assumption that the 1/2HP artica is more energy efficient and will save them more $ as they run for shorter periods. If you looked at my calculations, you will see that its not necessary true considering the cost price of the chiller unit. HP/cooling power scale is non-linear. It doesnt mean that when you have twice the HP rating, you will be able to chill twice as fast. Toyota, mercedes, bmw will eventually bring you to yr destination, its just whether if you are willing to spend more on the car itself and burn more petrol or travel slower on a smaller car. Pls note that I'm not trying to create trouble/spoil sales but rather .. trying to create awareness.

Now for some cost effectiveness calculation. Assuming artica chiller runs 6hrs/day and atman 12hrs/day.. Artica - 2.8A X 220V = 616watts (616watts x 6hrs x 30 days)/1000 = 110.88kWh 110.88kWh x $0.1508/kWh = $16.72/month Atman (320watts x 12hrs x 30 days)/1000 =115.2kWh 115.2kWh x $0.1508/kWh = $17.37/month Difference in running cost $17.37 - $16.72 = $0.65 savings/month. Cost of chiller Atman = $600 Artica = $1700 Difference in chiller cost $1700 - $600 = $1100 Break even period $1100 / $0.65/month = 1692 months = 141years! __________________________________________________________ Assuming artica chiller runs 6hrs/day and atman 24hrs/day.. Atman running cost $17.37 X 2 = $34.74/month Difference in running cost $34.74 - 16.72 = $18.02/month Break even period $1100 / $18.02/month = 61months = 5years! Basically it means that you will need at least 5yrs to recover the cost on the purchase of the artica chiller VS its operating efficiency. (On the assumption that the Atman chiller is very inefficient (running non stop for 5years)

No need to get so aggressive, I'm not trying to bring down yr product. I dont sell atman chillers I speak with my own understanding based on published information. I will try to find a good ampmeter to do some measurement, I'm also interested to know whether the 300watts is true or not.

It could be a feel good factor, Wow my 1/2HP artica can outcool all the 1/2HP chillers out there but its drawing 2x the power of other chillers. It wont save any $ in electrical cost but will actually increase it even if the operation time is reduced. The price is also so expensive, I believe its $1700+ for 1/2HP? I can buy 3x 1/2HP chillers with that $1700 and run 2x 1/2HP chillers simultaneously and still have the same power consumption. Btw I dont think the artica chiller is weather proof as the manual warned not to place the chiller in high humidity and avoid water splashes.
-
Doesnt make sense leh, a 1/2HP artica consumes 2.8A x 230V = 644watts 1/2HP atman = 300watts No wonder the artica chiller can cool so fast, the 1/2HP compressor is ###### the power of almost 1HP. (1HP ~750watts) I suspect the 1/2HP compressor might be underrated.

Atman chillers comes with a rather simple thermostat which cannot be tweaked and the temperature delta is set at 0.5degrees. This will force the chiller to switch on when there is a 0.5degrees increase in temperature. Some chillers like hailea, teco also have probelms with too frequent start up. Thats why you will need a external thermostat to overwrite the existing one. Atman given its low cost and efficiency, its a very good buy. I can cool a 4x2.5x2.5 with 500watts of MH with the atman chiller.
-
It will come with 1x temperature controller 1x 3m silicon PTC probe 1x black plastic box 1x special 3pin socket for the atman chiller All internal wirings are rated at 600V which is originally used for aircon. Additional switches can be added but its excluded to minimise internal wiring as the wires used are very thick and stiff. Free on site calibration and installation with mercury lab thermometer.
-
$120, it can be used to control up to 1000watts of equipments at anytime. This controller box also can be modified to shut down the MH bulbs if the temperature exceeds a certain temperature if you decided not use it for yr chiller. The modification will enable 2800watts of load.
-
It will come on less than 4times a day if configured properly so its not really a issue.
-
Why dont wire the thermostat externally? It will solve all the probelms and there is no modification done to the chiller so the warranty is still valid. My controller comes with 3m long silicon PTC probe and with resolution of 0.1degrees. Provide free calibration and installation *The actual temperature controller box does not have any switches*

infact too much light will cause algae to grow on them. Overdosing liquid food will cause plenty of algae probelms so go easy on them. If possible get live plankton
-
Its not really the lighting as they require plankton to survive. If there isnt enough plankton for them, they will just melt.
-
looks like its better now

Army food not that bad lah .. especially when parents visiting or got big shots coming. So far the best food is in CCO PLC and CCO sungei gedong.
