  1. no problem, thats what forums are for, to share exp and knowledge, last piece of advise, since urs is custom tank, do plan your equipment around ease of maintenance. i am no expert but base on my journey so far, Stability of water params, reliability of equipment, ease of maintenance and lastly automation (optional) is key to successful reef tank. the automation part is to prepare the transition from hardworking reefer to lazy reefer lol.. 2. my tank rsr 350 so i follow the red sea recommended specs which is 3k liter/hr, for me, return pump need to stand alone, i think this is most critical, other pumps i do share like i sharing chiller with reactor etc, dont link 1 pump to all ur critical stuff. as far as possible try to use 1 pump for each component as different component might need different flow, just my 2 cents. also spend a bit more on good brand return pump, reliability is key. 3. that is a bad idea, 1 pump dead = all dead Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. my experience with tigger pods tells me that predation is not the reason for low survival, as i put them in the fuge with no fish, they still disappear without trace. internet forum is saying tigger is cold water species (as it can be refrigerated) but reef nutri firmly deny. i also think it should not be the case as reef nutri is culturing them. my opinion is more deviating to tigger pods require special diet like it needs phyto to survive and our reef tank seems not able to support phyto. Tisbe on the other hand can survive on detritus and or those film algae on glass. i have no evidence to back that up except for my own personal experience and observations. 5. for reputable companies like algagen and reef nutri, i just dump everything in no need filter, u can see on youtube they also doing same thing. For local pods culture not really sure how clean is the water or contain any parasites so might be taking a risk by dumping everything in. Thats y u pay more for pods like algagen and reef nutri besides paying for the nice packaging of cos lol. the copepods species is also guaranteed bah compare to local cultured unknown pods species? my 2 cents, its like paying more for piece of mind lah. 6. FNM should have, algagen live phyto and pods, u shld probably call before going to check if have stock, also do remember to check expiry date. If just adding to reef tank for biodiversity, i would recommend tisbe, for reef nutri tigger pods i have no success despite 3 attempts, do let me know if u have success Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  18. Btw Rob, how do you compare the basic pro reef to the Bio active version in terms of nutrient and coral health and colors? Any difference which u observe? Thanks for advise. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  19. Hi Rob, Thanks for the detail explanation, appreciate it. By Clumping i meant the salt hardening inside the bucket into clumps, i will need to hammer it into smaller pieces before i can start mixing which is quite tiring for me. Thanks Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  20. Hi Reefers, Anyone using above salt? Good? Bit more ex than other brands, using RN salt now but i find it has clumping issue so thinking of change. Thanks! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  21. not senior bro, just sharing, one piece of advice, automation and sustainability is key word in this hobby. i always felt i am getting lazy compared to when i first started, if within your budget get ur key equipment automated and also preplan ur tank around maintenance. its like when u first got ur new home, some ppl priority look nice nice but forget about maintenance, overtime as life take over and nobody do chores, the house will look cui haha. 22. i also agree with bro rob, btw i using the kamoer so far no complains maintaining my alk nicely, its quite nice asthetics wise as the dosing head is multi color for easy differentiation. Mine is also cloud enabled reason to get this is acts as remote monitoring incase power trip when i overseas. just my 2 cents. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  23. i using red sea additives, ABCD + alk + Ca, have mag but not using. So total would need 6 dosing heads. My 2 cents is get as many heads as ur budget and space allows, u may never know when u want to start dosing other elements. I have not used all for reef b4 so cant comment but my opinion is better to split the dosing as each element consumption might be different, as my tank rarely consume magnesium.
