sand is nice to look at and closer to nature , between the liferock cause mean more surface area as for me i put the sand for another reason is that when i put in the liferock the weight will be evenly spread among the sand rather then really concentrate on that area alone

just my 3 cents , bio ring is to cultivate and house bateria, and carbon to remove the smell make the water chearer and remove heavy toxic but carbon must change bioring not for me , as for me i use both and much more thing , unless you dun mind spending money if not like me i just buy the $4 bucks a kg carbon or ativited carbon and replace it monthly

u guys must have known the term of activited carbon , yes soak it in boiling or hot water for 5 min that my knowledge of carbon of course just my 2 cents , to activate it and it works for me

yo marble ,i heard it able to bring down no3 to a certain extend only ,but student here and no space that why didit get that , was told before for no3 everything must be there , dsb, plants , and correct bateria .Tat why i started using dsb ,and to your question to the price i check out the equitment alone about $150 range ,

1) is the wavemaker blowing at yr sand , you need to observe for some time as it take some time before i notice it blowing gently 2) run carbon as some bro say and add a piece poly filter will be even better and as for the carbon before putting it in soak it in boiling water for 5 min first

hi loster always glad to see some bro in here , haha to be honest i overstock i think about 15 small fishes in my tank ,angels , wrasse , cromis , for the cannister i maintain every 3 month cause inside is just media the filter and all is change in my main tank where there a overflow before it's suck into my both cannister .

a top overflow will solve this problem ,if you using canister ,eheim also have a different intake pipe with overflow
