  1. looking good how about telling us the tank specs?
  2. i always had the idea that nano would be like 1ft - 2ft and pico would be less than 1ft in size. that would be the main display tank size. there are folks who have sumps/fuges that's bigger than the main tank
  3. nice! love the frogspawn... may i know where u got it?
  4. in my 24g nanocube, i'm having a total of 144w PL lights. 2 x 36w 12k (dymax) 1 x 36w 10k (coralife) 1 x 36w arctinic 03 (coralife) as well as almost 500gph flowrate. have a couple of monti digi and a encrusting monti in it. digis growing pretty fast since it was added 2 mths ago (double in size from 2 inch) and monti cap just added a couple of weeks ago. possible to try other sps? oh yah, have an external canister hooked up as a fuge along with a piccolo airdriven skimmer. i must say Dan's tank was a real inspiration
  5. for some inspiration, see here http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=553708
  6. done it before... no problems. there are pple using 70w mh for pico tanks if you're worried, just on 1 tube followed by both tubes after a few days. if things are not to your liking, you can always off the 2nd tube.
  7. 72w shouldn't be a problem... my 24G has 144w PL. you should be able to get 50/50 tubes from petmart
  8. check out I~Aqua (one of the sponsors here)
  9. sure, as long as it's sturdy enough.
  10. try the eheim liberty HOB filters or check out the ibox from our sponsor
  11. my cabinet is 3ft and tank ht is 2.5ft. had my doubts when my tank maker (suspect is the same as yours) told me to have a cab at that ht. but have since realised he's right. it's much easier to pack things into the cab (equipments like canisters, co2 cylinder, etc). also, with the tank set higher, the view is much better, be it standing in front or from the sofa only hassle is that i need to use a ladder to reach the bottom of the tank. but that's not often. imho, go with the 3ft ht cab, it'll give u much more options should u decide to change equipments.
  12. you could try Marine Life over at Hong Leong Gardens... check out the sponsors section.

  14. water change once per week, but if have time, change mid-week too (less %). feed once every 2-3 days no problem more impt would be to get your bro to top up the tank due to evaporation.
  15. from the pic, your sandbed is not too deep. and as it's still "young", the nasty stuff would not have accumulated enough to cause your tank to crash from rescaping. your can do a rescape followed by a water change. should be fine. you can leave things as it is but be wary of sand digging livestock. eg pistol shrimps, certain gobies etc make sure your rocks are stacked firmly so that hermits/snails would not be able to move them
  16. bro, i suggest you re-do your rocks when you setup the chiller. you should put rock 1st then followed by sand for a nano setup (even for a big tank, it's recommended). there's a higher risk of falling rocks due to sand movement if the sand went in 1st with the rocks stacked on top. rocks hitting the sides of the nanocube will risk scratching it or worse.. cracking the glass. also when adding snails/hermits, they tend to knock things over as they move along the rockwork. so better to make sure your rock structure can take this "abuse". some folks epoxy/glue several pcs of rock together to form the structure they want before putting into the tank. real sturdy and less worry
