Started to fill the tank with RO/di water... really slow process ... will post more pictures during the cycling phase
-
Finally... Managed to get my contractor to come down to drill the hole and Lin Lin from irwana to set up the compressor for the tank, whats left is just to plaster the wall back. This means i can finally start filling the tank with water and cycle the tank

Thanks subzeroLT ! I have seen your tank thread , your tank is amazing , and so is your diy skills.

As much as possible , i try to balance out reliability and effectiveness of the equipment with the cost of it . To be frank sometimes i dont know why people would spend 1k on just one lightset (hopefully i dont offend any radion fans) i understand that they are a tested and proven product but 1k is simple not justifiable . Like many other consumer products , i feel that most reefing items are expensive because of branding

Rubber hose as pipings ah

Hahaha okay la to be honest this tank setup itself cost me a lot a lot of money (every single thing add up to 8062.8!!) till the point where my allowance by itself cannot cover the entire cost . But it would have burnt a bigger hole in my pocket if i didnt source for ways to cut down the budget for the tank haha

Hmmm same , ive been thinking about using a UPS to backup important equipments in mh tank but will need to do more research on this , meanwhile just pray nothing happens
-
Have you thought about getting backup power for you wavemaker , chiller etc ?
-

A noob question : Is it okay to connect all my lights to the same power plug or will that overload the circuit?
-
Anyways i decided to ditch the idea of the elevated hood concept as i felt it was redundant and it would add on to the cost of the set up. Besides the aluminium stands that came with if were pretty sleek so i went with that instead . Heres some pics of the lights which i put up today and the messy uncompleted wirings... i will be getting something to conceal and organise all these wires soon. A major mistake i made for the tank’s design was the postion of the top up tank and failure to take into account the length of the wirings (mainly the solenoid) and it ended up in me not able to put all my controllers and power plugs at one spot (my control panel) as seen in the sump pictures here..

Yup but i dont see anyone using it in Singapore , think the bulk of users are in taiwan and japan

Definitely bro Mike! Will try to find someone with a par meter to get me a par reading when everything is set up . Will also give a more detailed follow up review on its long term performance in the future

Well... it did take quite a few months of savings , lucky (or unlucky) for me my vocation requires me to stay in so i dont need to spend money during the weekdays haha thanks!!! HAHHAA
-
Thanks harvin6 bro , this helps me open up to more options haha , appreciate it

HAHAH bro nick surviving on the measly ns allowance and bonuses to fund majority of the tank !! Many items under discount or second hand items !!! hopefully frag sales in the future can help me sustain and cover some of the cost

Things left before filling the tank: -Fix up the compressor (sourcing various people to get the cheapest possible price) -Settle the method of hanging the LEDs For the compressor , i actually purchased a brand new non-inverter aircon compressor and im trying to get a guy to modify it and install it for me at a lower price . Currently waiting for my contractor’s friend to give me a quotation next Monday. As for the lights , the design that i have in mind is an elevated hood concept which i am getting Vincent to fabricate for me. It’ll look something like this:
