  1. Hi what do you mean by that? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  2. I see thx a lot bro, so many things to learn in this hobby hahahah While setting the tank up, would you recommend I begin with a refugium or a skimmer first? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  3. However this does not necessarily mean that the salt was the issue, as I had not done more than 10% water change initially until the diatoms started going away. This time I did a 15% water change with half being Coral Pro and the other half being my regular salt. Additionally I had sold off my Picasso Trigger (though they started opening up some time before I sold him) which may have been a supporting factor. Finally I kept the fan on 24/7 which I realise is actually probably the biggest factor here. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. Hi guys just an update, the GSP opened up about a week ago after I did a water change with Coral Pro Salt, when I was using regular Red Sea Reef Salt before. Just info which may help other reefers struggling with the same issue, thanks for the other advice:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. Willing to trade for biological housing e.g. rocks or marine pure, or other items of interest. Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  6. Hi guys, I have a limited amount of space in my sump, where there are only three sections, being firstly the output from the overflow, and then a large centre portion for a refugium or skimmer, and then the portion for the return pump. Should I just ditch the refugium idea? Or can I place the skimmer with the return pump? Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  7. Hi guys, just a newbie question here. As I've posted earlier, I have bought Jebao DCW-6000 for my 4 ft. It has a great flow rate of max 6200l/h, with a great power saving wattage of only 45W. That's like only $7 per month when turned on 24/7 at max power. However, as I browsed through the forum, most people are using brands like EHEIM or Reef Octopus, which cost almost double the price for a lower flow rate and almost double the wattage. This is also applicable to the other Jebao pumps, not just the DCW, but I notice that Jebao is only more known for their wavemakers. Am I missing out on a key factor in choosing a return pump? Or is it just that the EHEIM pumps are just generally more popular as it became a trend? Thanks:) Asking as I'm wondering if I can exchange my current pump still unused with the shop.
  8. Okay, thx guys:) Since there are not many reviews of it online, I'll use it once my tank is set up and tell you guys how it goes:)
  9. Hey guys I just got a Jebao DCW-6000 with SINE Wave Technology. For some reason, it's quite difficult to find any reviews of it online. Does anyone here have any thoughts on the product, or the DCW series in general? Should I return it and exchange it for a Hailea instead? Thank you:) Also, can I confirm w anyone here that it's submersible? Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. Before I kept my 2ft saltwater tank, I had a nano 10g which was my first marine tank. Being an amateur, I bought a boxfish on impulse. It did well for a few days and ate a lot, esp mysis. However, I noticed it on a rock motionless one morning. I then did a stupid move and left it there as I was rushing off for class. About 12 hours pass and I get home, i noticed that my clownfish were twitching, and the water was cloudy. In essence, as long as you remove the fish immediately, it should be fine, as I'm pretty sure it was stressed out in the process of dying overnight, but my clownfish were fine in the morning, meaning the toxin either wasn't released or only trace amounts when stressed and was very easily cleaned up by my activated carbon. Also, VERY IMPORTANT to throw away the rocks and sand in the tank, and to properly wash the tank down. One clownfish survived and I placed it in a bucket, and it was fine after a day or two. However, when I placed the live rock in from the tank, the clownfish started acting weird and died. Needless to say I threw away everything in the tank. This may not be necessary for you, as I mentioned this happened in my very first saltwater tank, when I knew not much about it. Also, I was very badly pushing the bio load of a nano 10 gallon tank. 11. Ah I see, thank you for the great info:) Currently upgrading to a 4ft now, so adding them shouldn't be too problematic. Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. I have a friend who keeps a very healthy Moorish Idol that is fed mainly on Masstick. Even his Copperband accepts it too. They're actually really hardy once you get them eating, some of his fish developed Marine Ich but the Moorish Idol is swimming around healthy, free of any white spots as far as I know. Good luck with your Moorish Idol[emoji108] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  13. Thanks, is 4 tubes necessary even if only for LPS? Also, will lower light SPS such as Bird's Nest thrive in it? Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. Hi guys I will be getting a 4 by 3 by 2 tank soon from a kind hobbyist, and would like to get advice on government regulations on such tanks. As far as I know, a standard 4 by 2 by 2 will need a permit, however this info was found in old threads in websites such as Arofanatics. I've been looking for some time but I can't really find any official links set up by HDB, and any links in old threads cannot be found. Have any of you guys had to get a permit for your large tanks? Thank you:) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  17. Will running an algae scrubber and chaeto deplete the nutrients in the tank? As I'm mainly interested in soft corals for their lower lighting and maintenance, will there be any effects on the corals in using either of these (scrubber or chaeto) as an attempt to keep algae away? This is as I have read read alot of statements that soft corals such as Pulsing Xenia cannot survive in low nutrient tanks. Thank you:)
  18. Thanks for the tips guys:) How about ATI T5? Are they as good? Or is LED a much better option? Thanks:)
  19. Trading a healthy Picasso for fish like Algae Blennies or a number of Trochus/Astrea snails. Thx:) IMG_9906.CR2
  20. Hi guys I'm trying to make DIY LED Actinic Lights, are there any specific LEDs I have to get or are simple blue ones sufficient? Thanks:)
  21. Hi guys What lighting do you guys recommend for a 2 ft tank that has a lower energy consumption? Thank you Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  22. Thank you:) Is it true that it needs a mature and slightly dirty tank to open up and survive?
