  1. No pump how u manage the flow rate?
  2. Copper don't treat brook, only treat white spot and velvet. Only formalin bath effective but u can't get pure formalin in SG. You can try ruby reef rally or seachem Paraguard but effective or not I can't tell. Maybe you can don't do anything and monitor 1st then do 1 or 2 time bath before u put back to Main tank.
  3. I never see a brook in real so can't give accurate advise. But i will base on the below to determine 1) White spot grow at a very fast rate 2) The clown die within 1 to 2 days after u spot the white spot Based on my understanding, white spot is not deadly unless situation is in their favour and somemore is clownfish with thick mucus.
  4. Erm you sure is white spot? If yes, your display tank must be fishless for 76 days. If u want to fully cure white spot u need to do copper treatment for ur fish for 30 days. Just make sure the spot is u c is not velvet or brooklynella else do treat it asap. Clownfish got thick mucus so they may carry the problem but not yet shown.
  5. Other than hailea, the 2 other brand is ok but exp. If your tank is big I will suggest install compressor.
  6. White spot will drop off after a few days. Try observe 1 or 2 more weeks before u put back to main tank. If BT show no sign of sickness then don't need to treat it anymore. Just feed more nutrition food to boost the immunity. Give this little guy a small pcs of seaweed daily.
  7. Erm I afraid coral chip is not pores enough. you may want to consider buying some proper bio media like sera siporax, maxspect sphere. Try not to have any sponge in the tank. If you using filter wool then change it when is turn brown.
  8. btw, your tang maybe having swim bladder issue. Do treat it asap.
  9. Erm I will suggest you buy a Salifert NO3 test kit to test and see if the result is the same or not. If yes, try to do 30% water change every 2 days for 3 times. At the end, if your NO3 still raise up very fast then u need to consider reduce your livestocks or do carbon dosing. Btw do you have alot of bio media? If you don't have enough, your anaerobic bacteria also no place to grow.
  10. Livestocks will be the main contributor especially if you have tangs. I do carbon dosing and refigum but no matter how hard I try I just can't get my NO3 below 15ppm. Always stuck at 30ppm. After your water change did you do a test few hours later to see how much NO3 is reduce?
  11. You need to identify the reason of high nitrate. Livestock overloaded? Feed too much? Got use Vitamin supplement? Try feeding less but increase feeding frequency and see how.
  12. Check out the YouTube video on BRS for storing saltwater. It will give you a very gd idea what factors to look for.
  13. U can go ah beng there to check out the rock. They got sell those $10/kg. Nego with them, they can give u better price.
  14. Maybe due to territorial issue also. Try feeding more times but same amount and see got improve or not. Else change the landscape and see.
  15. Yap, based on BRS video UV can't really kill algae and for parasites no effective way to prove can kill or not. Understand from other is if you having cloudy water it will help to clean it. I will suggest practise quarantine will help u success in the long run.
  16. 1. Just do normal mixing will do, use ATC refractormeter to measure 1.025 can liao. 2. If you got sand then mix salt liao then put sand else can directly mix inside the tank. Just slowly mix to ensure u dont over shoot 1.025. After salt dissolve, measure 30 to 45 min later and then add again. 3. Skimmer up to you, I dont think it affect cycling. I will run to pull out any bad thing coming from the rock and sand. 4. Only do water change once the cycle finish. How much water to change depend on ur NO3 after cycle. 5. Don't put chaeto 1st, likely will die due to water no nutrient. 6. Maybe u should study a bit whether you need a UV sterilizer b4 u commit. If you want will suggest to buy a proper one. Lastly, if u using Dr tim ammonia solution to cycle just do it slowly to prevent cloudy water.
  17. If you don't need a sump u can go for innovative marine nuvo 20. If u have tight budget, better do your math before u commit. Saltwater will cost alot more than freshwater. Chiller + lighting and electricity is a killer.
  18. Check out red sea reefer 170. Just skimmer + ATO and 10L water change every week or bi-weekly can liao. Refugium and ATS I feel is for bigger system when water change is not so easy. Maintaining will be more work than change water. If you lazy to change water, do carbon dosing. Get a good skimmer can liao.
  19. [emoji106] If u staying FOWLR, get a regal angel!
  20. Canister or hang on filter + skimmer. I feel that mechanical filtration not so effective in saltwater. So for me I just using hang on filter to put bio media and chemical filtration like activated carbon, GFO etc
  21. Ok, then u can consider canister but you need to clear regularly. If u want nice looking then sump is gd for you. For me I will still use big hang on filter and hang on skimmer. Add a bit more rock for bacteria.
  22. What volume of your tank? If less than 50L, a big hang on filter can already. Just required to do 10 to 20% water change every weeks.
  23. If u want to be safe u bleach all the rock you have and biological media that you put at the sump. For the sand can't do much but should be ok. After u put back the rocks and media just use seachem prime to remove any possible leak. Then u need to go for at least 76 days fishless cycle. This is to kill all the parasites that is bring in by ur live rock. While u cycle, quarantine your fish and coral. It may sound alot of work but if u dont get it right at the beginning then price to pay at the end normally is give up this hobby. I so regret never do proper QT and now my tank got ich. If I add any tang in I need to worry will my tank crush or not.
  24. Seeding is small thing with the help of baterica solution nowdays. The problem is now u don't see the problem but u may see it later and then with live stock in is too late liao le. Just bleach it for the long run. Take the rock and soak with 10:1 ratio for 1 to 2 days then rinse the rock with dechlorinator. Then let it dry complete and rinse one more time. Just take about 1 week only. Solving problem with live stock will be 10 times more effort compare to now.
