  1. I'd recommend getting the easier species first - I've been keeping a small bunch of lyretail anthias for a few months, and these are rather low-maintenance and not fussy about food. I feed mine 1-2 times a day, and they take anything from cyclop-eeze to chopped prawns to my fingers.
  2. That's a rose BTA, and nope .. shouldn't be dyed. Have fun with it, I simply adore mine! Nice tank bro, and nice photography too!
  3. Not sure if it's a pair though, I would think not personally. The bright purple one doesn't have any of the frill-like appendages seen on the other one. Perhaps both in the same genus but different sp. or subspecies? Now I really regret not setting up a fish-only tank!
  4. ML: Blue tunicates Goose Rhinopias Scorpionfish (puple color - must see! ) Octopus Orange spot filefish Flatworm-eating nudibranch
  5. I think a refugium should be the least of your worries right now. First make sure the cabinet is really secure - if not even your main tank (and anyone else at home) will be at risk, not to mention thinking of adding things on. See if it's warped, a pic will really help a lot. A few vertical support beams will usually help a lot, and I'm sure there are some reefers here good at civil engineering or related to be able to advise you. Also, if you're sure there has been a mis-quotation and mis-understanding, try to sort it out with your tank-supplier. See if there can be a mutual agreement to replace the cabinet. If you have all the proof with you about your supplier not following his original blueprint for your renovation and false claims regarding his quality of work, I think taking it to CASE might be a good idea. Just my 2c ...
  6. What lights are you using? If you're using MH acclimatise them slowly by placing them lower down the tank first, then gradually moving them up to where you want them to be.
  7. Paedophile aler! Joking lah ... haha. But that really sounded naughty, hehe. Good luck for your O's man, do it once, do it good!
  8. The pics are very obviously graphic-edited ... and bros above made some good points. Really too cruel lah. But looks good enough to put in a shoal of tiny freshwater fish though! Maybe neon tetras.
  9. The ear thingy is vertigo, but probably not it since the dizziness isn't the spinning type. No recent history of ear infection either (I hope?) Better go see a doc, take care bro.
  10. It's a floating feeling and not spinning? Like the room's spinning somewhat? Hope it's not this sort of vertigous giddiness, it's usually due to sinister causes. Pull down your lower eyelids and check if the reddish part is pale pink - could be anaemia as well. Also, does the giddiness come on especially when you stand up suddenly? It could be simply stress, take a break and see if the symptoms abate. If it's still persistent you could PM me. Free consultation .. if you trust someone who's still in training, that is! lol ...
  11. that's the very reason why I got rid of all my scarlet cleaner shrimps, and went for glass shrimp instead. The same function, but much less irritating. Used to do what hamannbmw did ... stood with a stick when I fed my anemones (those things can even climb into tube anemones to get at food!) and lobos. Or just get a carpet anemone and teach them a lesson ... once and for all.
  12. loads (and I mean LOADS) of true black percula mated pairs at CF. Also a tankful of naso tangs, fromia stars, harlequin shrimp, and all the usual stuff.
  13. ML sells frozen, freeze-dried and flake Cyclop-eeze. Not sure bout the rest.
  14. Interesting, looks like a typical seashore habitat. Maybe you could do a biotope aquarium and try to mimic the habitat - pistol shrimp, shrimp gobies, caulerpa and the like.
  15. Depends on the grade of sand you use as well - I suppose you could get away with a thinner sandbed if you're using really fine sand, #0 or oolitic for example.
  16. If you're in the West area, Poly Art (i think that's the name) at Clementi blk 328 also sells it.
  17. Second one looks like a Goniopora sp. (flowerpot coral/jewel coral). Supposed to be difficult to keep. BTW, is that lace from your tank? Mind PMing me to let me know where to get?
  18. Oi sis, you're really hardcore .. catching worms at 4am?? Nice Cynarina!
  19. Suppose so - may be very unsightly to have 6-8" of sand that can be viewed from the front. Sometimes, due to refraction and internal reflection of light from thick glass, some unsightly algae can also grow at the front panel. Personally I enjoy a DSB though, it's interesting to watch the interaction of animals that reside in/on the sand.
  20. CF still has some sand stars, and red fromia as well if your starfish has expensive taste.
  21. I'm using the new batch of resun cl650, quite satisfied with it. Noise wasn't too bad, and if I'm not wrong some places that sell it have a local warranty too.
  22. ... you might want to ask Jireh at Ginza, they sometimes bring in crocea and squamosa (huge ones).
  23. Thanks bro Moxa! Hammanbmw, show your preciousss leh!
