u didn't test your water? then how did u know that is was cycled? maybe u should get the test kits and test the water... maybe the conditions are not suitable yet..

hard corals do actually take prawn meat... i feed mine with prawn meat every week... remember to feed the shrimps with the same food that u're gonna give your corals though!

for me, i would certaintly prefer spending more for a venturi... im having a 3ft... used to be running on an air stone one.. collecting errr 'urine' as oceanics said... i've since upgraded to a weipro 2014 that is collecting dark green tea.. almost brown actually.. so i think it's safe to say that venturi driven skimmers work much better then air driven ones...

as far as i know, the shrimp won't strike anything if it isn't provoked. i was thinking of keeping it but i dun believe that it will juz sit there and not strike anything! wahahah i dun trust myself! can ask ppl who kept it b4.

farm mart sells resun chillers as well.. quite cheap i guess. i juz installed one actually... 1/10hp (cl300) for my 3ft tank and it's working quite well. no complaints abt fan if it's inside a cupboard. able to cool down the water quite quickly as well. worth the buy!
