Nice tank, i like the open concept show piece. How or where will you mount the power sockets, cables running etc, as these may affect the aesthetic of such beautiful tank? i m interested on the cost of your customized tank by exquisite reef too as planning my future upgrade. Can pm me what does the cost include?

Salt top up for cooling fan tanks
stormrider replied to PaulPaul01's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Salt creeps are hard to dissolve. Below information which can explain more. https://www.thesprucepets.com/aquarium-salt-creep-2924172 -

Yup, a nice fellow too that take an effort to walk me through on simple setup of the light. Any recommendation on the light setting? I am running on 40% intensity with coral growth template from 10am to 10pm. I am not sure if it’s an overkill for a nano with 2 softies and zoa.

Thank you all for the advises / recommendation. I managed to get hold of a good price for 2nd hand Radion XR15 pro Gen3 + RMS from a fellow sgreefclub whom had decomm a 2ft tank. I saw good reviews on this brand and BSTV had many good video on its performance. Too bad it does not have a built-in wireless control. Mine is a nano 10G tank

Salt top up for cooling fan tanks
stormrider replied to PaulPaul01's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
For nano tank, daily top off is possible. Fan may reduce 2-3degrees. For larger tank, it will be too much to do water top off and fan will no longer be effective. Water may splash on fan causing electricity shock. -
How did it trap debris? Isnt the water was filtered through socks through the sump?

Marine pure spheres works well for me. Some LFS sell them in pieces, e.g. one small piece $2~3 per one small cube or sphere. It is not an immediate solution as cultivating bacteria may take some time. Increase the cube or spheres when bioload increases. -

If budget allows, i do recommend marine pure etc as more crushed corals (heavy)to be equivalent to a block which is lighter and surface area. -

I am using marine pure spheres. It may take 1-2 months to be effective so have to put them during cycling. Not much maintenance only shake them off debris with tank water during water change. There are a few well known brands in the market but i have not use them. -

I think these products blocks or spheres are great to cultivate bacteria naturally. Slow but efficient to keep nitrate at bay in the long run. -

Welcome acodestny! -
Thanks for the advice. I had many dead spots and detritus in bottom of my tank. So upgrading pump might be one option for me.

Hi, Just sharing another option to consider. For small / QT tank, probably can explore some products similiar to : https://www.chillsolutions.com/products/csxc-1-aquarium-chiller Currently using CSXC-1 on my nano for 2 months. So far able to keep my 10g between 25~28 degrees with the recent warm weather with minimum water topup and electricity.

Nice chiller for nano. Quite operation too. One question, when you run your return pump to chiller then to dislay tank, do you feel the water pressure become much lower, slower water flower? I read you had a Eheim conpacton 1000, how was its performance?

Thanks daveyy, Will do some research. how about AI prime / HD? Am i right to say AI prime HD is a newer model which allow overdrive leds? This is the only added benefit compaired to AI prime

Egg crate (Black) can be considered. Easily available in any LFS. It can be break easily and secure with cable ties to fit odd dimension. It is cheap and doesnt block too much of lighting and air ventilation to be consider as alternative. It may not look great though. Just my suggestion.

Hi Reefers, I dont have experience with high performance LED for aquarium, so seeking any advice here. Can share with me how good is Kessil A160WE Tuna and its controller? Quality/ Maintenance / Suitability for SPS? What is the warranty if buying a new set from LFS, 1 year? If LED burnt out, where can i get it repair and how much is the such repair? Controllers, does it have connectivity to wifi? Is there any other light you guys will recommend if we put budget aside?

Just one suggestion, Do not remove entire filtration all at once, when changing filter like coral chips to marinepure sphere/blocks and etc. Maybe it is better to change them in phases.

How old is your tank? Ammonia spike usually cause by tank still cycling or something had died and leeching more ammonia that the tank can handle. If the dead animal is not remove, changing water might be a temporary solution. I am using API for ammonia test for 6 months, so far it had not fail me.
