Hi Patrick, Mind sharing how did you do the modifications? Some photos or articles will be great for reference. Thank you

I am considering getting a skimmer. May i ask how is the ghost skimmer / Tunze 9001 performing in a 10G tank? E.g. noise / maintenance / breakin time / skimming good stuff / nitrate level after skimmer input? Any other?

I had a nano, 35cm cube and only dosing Iodine and Carbonate.... agar agar too. Some say Iodine improve color of corals and carbonate increase alkalinity. Calcium didnt drop below 400... i dont know why... probably no SPS in my tank. Do consider putting a chiller... it help for corals. I got a thermochiller, save alittle on electricity i guess

Nice good looking tank. May i know how long had you set up this 2 feet tank? biweekly water change, do you experience Alkalinity or calcium drop? do you dose any stuff? From my past experience, I didnt felt the need for chiller before, and temperatures in tank were hovering 30-31 deg... my LPS corals and a anemone did suffer...

I have experience No3 up to 40ppm before... Luckly, there was no death from fish and soft corals. When Chaeto was introduced, My guess it may take a while for it to bring it down... more chaeto growth = lesser nitrate and less phosphate

More slime... Threw my 3-4 months old BTA Anemone as its stuck itself in the water overflow column and spilled water all over the floor... sadden

*Correction* Mind sharing what type of zoa and lighting you use?

Hi Weizhi10 Wow that is faster than i thought. Mind sharing what type of zoa and your water parameters? Thanks.

Hi Komerider, hopefully my zoa will show alittle growth in 2 weeks. If it does show new head around the frags, then i might leave it on the plug. Thank you. I read some articles that Zoa are slow growing corals, any idea how slow? Is 2 weeks enough to expect some growth or it will required months?
-
Cool! I will try to defrag it probably 2 weeks later. thanks for your advise.
-
Cool! Thanks. One question. i will like to defrag it and place on the rocks. I had not done this before. LFS told me i could just pluck it out and superglue to the rocks. How to pluck? It’s so small, and seems like my fat fingers could destroy the zoa during the progress.

Thanks JMW. What Nutrients Zoa Needs? I am hoping it dont require Target feeding cos i have many food robbery within the compound...

No worries Luna, i am also a newbie. Learning process

New addition today. Not sure what type of Zoa I had bought. Can some kind soul help to ID it and advice what it needs for care and prosperity?

Chaeto dont need mud, just have some flow around or through it. Rotate chateo once in a while so its get a light all round and its should be fast growing. Monitor if chaeto turn soft and whiten. copepods may populate... but for nano or pico tanks... i dont think it will populate fast enough as pods will ended up in your pet’s tummy.

Hi Luna, I am having a Jewel and Torch coral. I am not sure if slime is produce by torch. Its quite frequent, almost week seen slime floating ard...

Hi, often i find some transparent slime floating around the tank. When scoop it out, it look like egg york. Does anyone have them and any idea how it came about and what it is? Some advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

What type of light do u have over your chaeto? For me, i bought a 6w grow light from ikea 1-2 months ago. I had remove 70-80% growth twice. Since flow rate isnt that high where i put my chaeto behind the iso, i had manually rotate it once or twice a day to encourage better growth.

Hi JMW yeah they tends to fight... tear a few fins initially. After a few weeks kinda settle down. When i see them fight, i just throw in some food

Hi Ladynano no skimmer... hard to find space for it. Btw my anemone bta is bleaching also...

hi tabungrahim the tank is from Pinnacle Aquatics

hi uask4it my thermo chiller is set at 24.7 and its just run 24/7 and it will depends on room temperature to cool the tank

Sharing my piece of 6 months old ocean (Family photo) for comments and improvement. I might be overstocking with fish and still wish to put more corals with that limited space. SPS may be too difficult for such nano tank? Nitrate and phosphate had been fluctuating, and hard to bring them down. Currently my water parameters (7 days water change period):- Temp: 25~27⁰C ; Ammonia: 0 ; Nitrate : 5 ; Phosphate : 0.075 ; Calcium : 400 ; Alkaline : 7 ; Salinity : 1.021 (dosing iodine and reef carbonate only.) Current Setup with Marine biosphere ; chaeto at the back with a 6w Grow LED light (24hours period) ; main led light (10 hours), 1 x air pump, 2 x return pumps, 1 x thermoelectric chiller.
