I went on and off dosing reef energy to see if i notice a consistent change. Dont really notice a change in the sps but hammers do like it. I always feed reef roids n dose calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate n magnesium chloride.

Can u substantiate the claim that ‘n’ being low will make it to be of ‘anecdotal’ quality? Please show me the maths Also you are not drawing samples from a population... Dont see how u need to use statistics in this simple experiment. The aim is rather to observe which setup reduces nutrients the fastest.

The difference between the two is higher calcium, alkalinity and magnesium level for the coral so For your case, if you maintain higher calcium/alk levels. Coral pro is the way. If you do not dose any cal/alk supplement and rely on regular water change, coral pro is the way. If your cal/alk demand is relatively low or you already dose and keep the levels at NSW levels, then the original red sea salt works is the way. For me i use coral pro because i keep my cal/alk levels above NSW levels.

You should gather some data on the relative nutrient uptake rate. Take water from a high nutrient tank. Run the two set ups and a third control (just water in a dark container). Collect water samples and test nitrates n phosphates every 4 hours. Use the same lighting and same flow rates for all set up. I believe lighting is actually the most important factor. Because. Photosynthesis. Nonetheless. The biggest benefit of a ats is the most efficient use of surface area because you are growing algae vertically hence the growth wont cause as much self shading. Cheato growth causes self shading. Cheato reactor tries to minimise that. Nice idea, But i rather just get a h380 set up. Biggest benefit of a typical refugium is the lower maintenance. Just get kessil h380 n a ball of cheato. Harvest once a while. Ezpz

I usually praise my corals when they grow. But sometimes its important to nag at em and scold em if they dont grow. positive reinforcement must be balanced with negative reinforcement. Assuming normal distribution properties. Using the linear regression model of y=Bsub1 +BXsub2 + BX3 + epsilon we can regress coral growth (y) with respect to alkalinity, light and heterotrophic feeding.

Sunny D growth insane. Still looks so full even after fragging

Took some more pics today Gonna name this dream maker Nasuta. Still cant capture the green... Hoping that the dragon will colour up to smth more intense.

Just a quick update. Added some nice acro dragon acro Huge sulawesi sunset mille with turquoise tentacles and a very nice pink-purple and green acro. Growth is nice and steady. Also added a tunze ato. Feel safe knowing theres two layers of redundancy in addition to the optical sensor. Plus easy dosing of sodium bicarbonate. I Saw an acropora monticulosa/gemmifera at a lfs. Would love to add one if space permits. Rarely see it and although its not very colourful, is an underappreciated coral. pet peeve is with kessil. I love kessil for the well engineered spectrum. But just cant imagine why they produce a single puck instead of multipuck fixture. Led weakness is coverage and shading. Just makes more sense to add additional pucks like radion or AI.... last pet peeve is with the acropora abrotanoides. Brown acros can be lovely. But this maricultured piece just refuses to grow. At best miniscule growth. At worst im imagining things. Really kit kat acro...
