  1. thanks , decided not to go for it 1st and test out the tank's load, hopefully the power of the new place is better than my old place
  2. After a 3 year hiatus and trying to convince myself that reefing is an expensive and ridiculous hobby . i got stung again while selling away my rocks, shifted to a new place and will be doing up a partition tank for fengshui purposes. initially wanted to reuse back my old cabinet but as advised by tank maker Dan from CR aquarium , it makes more sense to built up a new cabinet to suit the new house which make sense and increase the height clearance for the sump so that i can make a taller sump to prevent backflow or any disaster from happening as i had encounter that previously due to incorrect sump calculation on my part Will be removing this structure and the tank will be put in its place haven really finish unpacking so everything is still in a mess 1st little project before the tank arrive at the end of the month is this rock scape that is cable tied and epoxied together with 1 main big base rocks and many other small pieces to give it shape and ledge for corals, most probably tank will be going for a minimalist rock look so i can dont buy too much corals and waste money haha As usual , rocks will be sitting on acrylic stands so that they do not touch the glass , but i have not yet decide if i want to put in sandbed or go bare bottom and give it hurricane flow to prevent debris setting on the bottom of the tank
  3. Hi , will be looking to install a 2nd breaker for the tank , the electrician says its useless because if there is a electrical trip from other parts of the house the mains will trip and there will still be no electricity , any suggestions?
  4. Wow bro thanks for taking the time to type such a detail reply, I will b using artificial rocks as base mix with lr that has been cooked for 3 yrs lol, so that part i'm not worried, i already has a set of crystal pro from previously just that it takes 1 hour to make 100l of water, that'll take me 10hrs, omg As for water change i will do a 2 stage cycling, (kiasu) 1st stage cycle for 1 month, during this time no2 drops to 0 , i'l add 1 more piece of market prawn. There after i'l do a 50-70% water change depending on how is the water n throw in a prawn again if water this time is gd i'l add in corals only, n 2 weeks later then do another 50% water change than add in fishes slowly , super super kiasu Nsw i am concern of pathogens n parasites as i do not know how well do they filter the water, i know some sellers draw water straight from The sea immediately n head over to pump the water (yucks)
  5. ya very nice but unless its for my perfect house and the perfect tank, i planning to sell the house after 5 yrs or so so no point
  6. Hi , trying to do the tank right from day 1 rather than having to solve issues later on, need some suggestions of the most economical sound best way. I will list down the pros and cons of what i'm thinking and see your guys's opinion Tank volume estimated 1000L 1: self make DI water with salt estimate cost 2 pails of salt = S120 DI water cartridge probably 2-3 = $70? water cost duno total cost $250? Pros: cleanest way with no parasites whatsoever Cons: wait til flower also die liao and alot of work 2: Purchased DI water with sale mix 40 bottles of DI water = $240 =/- 2 pails of salt = $120 Total cost $360 Pros : fast and clean with no parasites Cons: unknown quality of water and freaking expensive 3: Tap water leave it overnight and salt mix and run GFO to get rid of PO4 water cost unknown 2 pails of salt = $120 1 bottle of 1kg rowa = $80? total cost $250? Pros : cheap and fast with no parasites Cons: unwanted elements in water from tap 4: NSW delivery = $80? Mg and Ca addictive = $100? Total cost $180? Pros: fast and lazy method, cheap Cons: fear of parasites and sg water dirty , low salinity , maybe around 1.17-1.20 Pros: cheap and fast As i am typing this and doing the calculations i kinda answered my own questions but still good to seek opinions I think number 3 & 4 is out, if there is lobang for good and reasonable price DI water than that will be my preferred choice

  18. Yup went down today and spoke to Dan, very good service and impressive bundle price including of disposing my current tank and reconditioning it, i thought they will be quite ex but got a shock and said yes immediately, yup i'm back after a 3 yrs break
  19. lol i drifted from 5ft to nano then thought its such a waste of my cabinet so be bringing over , then 2ft cube on a 5ft cabinet looks really odd with all the extra space ( can do table top dancing) so tried to take a big sweeper and went back to a 5ft , but the fear of labourous husbandry of waking up at 7am to test water and water changing until 3am turned me off + since i already sold of majority of my rocks so i pulled handbrake and settled at 3.5ft by 2.5 by 1.8 and recon my cabinet into a L cabinet and change colour
  20. Hi Guys , any1 have experience in the quality of the low iron glass of CR aquarium?
  21. Drop in coil compressors are not warm at all because they work for a very short time to cool 1 degrees even for my previous 5x2.5x2 , in fact its quite cooling like a fan lol
